Does anybody know the reason for this place closing? We come here on holiday and will miss this place.

The hotel has changed hands and is waiting for refurbishment.

We often pass the Calypso on our walks to San Juan and we've never noticed anybody working there or any sign of life, so I don't think anything has happened as yet I'm afraid.

The hotel is privately owned and when they decide to complete the refurbishment they will, no dates have been given.
The chiringuito, bar outside on the beach, will be open again shortly. They were topping up the bar and cleaning today.

Thank you for the update. Hopefully it will be refurbished and open again soon. It has such character and so quaint. A great location too. Waking up to the view on one of those sea view balconies was such an experience.
We love San Juan.
