What if your only using your property 3/4 times a year and occassionally rent it out. €59.95 is a lot to pay monthly. Can you get vacation packages to conect whilst your appartment is occupied

Hi Dario

Thank you for your help.

Using Vodafone.es, Is this part of a mobile phone package that’s gives 200gb daily on a mobile phone in addition to a WiFi service within the home as I’m not a technophobe but thought that WiFi allowed free downloads within the home so why would you need an additional 200gb?

We haven’t explored mobiles for Spain yet and wondering whether a contract or sim only deal but as a UK resident we are currently with Vodafone UK and receive a good package for our mobile phones with them.

No, this service gives you a free standing modem / router that takes a SIM card.  It has a 4 port LAN that then allows you to run your wired devices through it (printers / TV’s / Media Boxes) and is also a WiFi router to connect your laptops etc.  It is like a “normal” ADSL or Fibre Optic router, but operating on 4G, so it’s placement in your home is not dependent on being close to a wall jack or outlet.

The phone is quite separate; I use DigiMob as my provider; they are carried by Movistar, and are contract free; so I pay month to month.  I pay 10,00€ per month and get 400 minutes National / international calls, 2GB data, 5000 mins DigiMob to DigiMob and 150 SMS.  Invariably I always have plenty remaining at the end of the month.  Whilst I’m in my house, my phone is logged on to my network and so using the data from my 4G router plan.

Plenty of companies offer “packages” for mobile phone and home internet; I haven’t found any that offer the system I have at the moment for the price I pay (I also wanted to use and manage my own router and that’s not so easy to get here, hence my choice of internet provider)

Jensham Wote:

May I refer you to both to Euronews the free English Newspaper out on a Thursday and Sol Times both having a number of classified ads. from companies that may suit your purpose.

Yep, quite familiar with both of those; I think the reason this question is posed so often on this forum is that the adverts will only tell you what the various companies want you to believe - as adverts are designed to do; there is no substitute though for the actual experience of someone having used a particular service and being able to give their views on it.

I can only really give my experiences with WiMAX and of course the company I am with now.  I am though quite committed as a cellular modem user because with the advent of 5G, I would suggest that may be where the future of Network communication lies, notwithstanding the infrastructure investment being poured into Fibre Optic ....

Thank you for this information.

Have you found WiMAX to be a reliable company? I will check with them about fibre optic as quoted for a one and two year contract and see if they are flexible to upgrade should fibre optic be an option in the future. 😃

Yes..we have fiberoptic

4 years on from this post, I have moved away from wireless and am on fibre optic.

I can recommend Digimobil who offer 1 GB/s for 30€ per month, no buried clauses in small print.  What you see is what you get.  I now use them for both home and work and the service is incredibly reliable and blindingly fast.  Digimobil also offer a dedicated English helpline.

Hi there, wimax is good -we use them.  Good service and only really intermittent , with signal dropping only very occasionally.  Given the various environmental issues the service has been good.  We go for a holiday contact where it gets switched on and off and u pay less when it's off.   Only 6 euro when off if memory serves.    Moratec is in the village although that might be only phones and possibly provide other alternatives I believe if you speak enough spanish.
