Today we found an injured bat caught up in our patio doors. It seems to have a chunk missing from one of its wings. Is there an animal hospital or similar where we could take it? I don’t want to just put it in the garden in case the nearby cat population kills it. We have given it water but are really clueless about what else we can do. Needless to say, we have zero experience with looking after bats!

In the meantime while waiting for help, go onto Google and enter 'how to look after injured bat, tons of info to help you through. Well done for helping the little fella out though.

Yes, we have done that, thank you. It was helpful and we are following the advice we’ve been able to find. So far, so good! Apparently their wings often repair themselves over time without any intervention so we are just keeping him/her (who knows??!) safe for the time being. I will try & find some specialist help though

There is an animal sanctuary in turre.  Just can't think of the name.  It takes injured animals.  Could do a Google search
