Palomares has positive things going for it, and personally I quite like it, but not everyone's cup of tea. Rent before you buy.

Thanks Juliet.

Ah so you say I am biased but you don't even live in Palomares!! Well I don't like my car being vandalised by jealous Brits or being accused of hitting a woman which was totally untrue. There's a very clicky crowd hanging around the plaza bored out of their brains and if you aren't part of the "in crowd" then beware......

We live in UK but have a large Duplex on the edge of the Village with mainly Spanish neighbours who are no trouble whatsoever. We love to visit but its been challenging of late due to Covid and the running of a busy shipping business. There is a strong Brit presence and I have to say that with some exceptions they do tend to be a tad insular and not over welcoming to outsiders, although I suppose this would improve once they get to know you.

That said we love the Spanish feel of the village. The well priced, community based, what you see is what you get bars such as Oasis and Monica's. We love the restaurants within easy reach by car such as Los Canteros in Vilaricos, Lua by the Consum supermarket and the restaurant at Desert Springs Gold resort, together with many restaurants in Mojacar.

Finally we have a Scottish family that rent our Duplex for up to 7 months a year and they enjoy the village as well as a based for visiting the region as a whole.

I viewed some properties there in September.  Palomares is a bit like Marmite …. You either love it or hate it.  Regrettably we were the latter mainly due to half completed properties dating back to the recession.

I don't know why the authorities authorise new construction there when there as you say many complexes only partially completed and just abandoned.Think they should refuse any new projects until they are sorted out....
