I’m thinking out loud here (and to be honest I’ve had some senior moments) but I’m trying to remember drawing(s) in one of the free newspapers of the rail link. Since then Corvera airport has been completed. Corvera is quite a distance from Murcia city as was the “old” airport.

If the new rail link is not serving Alicante and Corvera airports it will prove as useless as a handbrake in a canoe to people arriving at those airports....

...

I’ve learned on this forum that construction has started in the rail link station on the Garrucha side of Vera and there are quite extensive works being carried out along the line between Mojacar and Almeria which includes a long new bridge approaching Almeria city.

No doubt much of the works are being financed through EU funds so some plans must have been prepared. I’m not confident that the link will be of much benefit to those who hitherto had thought differently. I’ll keep an ear to new Holiday Homes in the Sun television series for more updates.

I remember that in a free paper as well. I thought it was being linked to Alicante airport at the time..... but as you say the goal posts have changed due to the new Murcia airport. The track which was laid years ago from Garrucha to Almeria is in an awful state..... bushes and small trees growing out of it which has broken it up,  with some of the edges falling away! I am no engineer but it iseems only wide enough for 2 tracks .....someone said 4 tracks?? We cycle along it to up level to Nijar and then they have blocked the tunnel up. Tunnels it also said in the paper were paid for by Germany because they wanted the produce to get to them...(not the people please note!LOL)..... I like many are just going to wait and see.... so much could change before it is ever finished, like me in a box!

Not sure where you’ve heard that Bobske - I have two clients who are engineers on the project - their understanding is that there will be a good high speed service

Sorry heard from solicitor friend am not doubting will be a good service but like the road from Murcia to Vera nobs uses it because it is to expensive , it become a joke to us trying to see a vehicle on it when we go over . So don't doubt it will be a good link just about how much it will be used

Bearing in mind there is pressure from competition now - RENFRE started offering tickets for long haul trips for 15€ - so the new French company now operating high speed trains offered their long-distance tickets for 9€ …. I am very certain that when it starts operating, competition will ensure tickets are competitively priced

Who's laughing ? You said about uk numby which I find not very nice there is one other English speaker in our village a couple of gear hoarders some farmers . They really don't want t it either it's cutting some fields in half and the hoarders have concern for there goats . Please read my post I said if that's the price I pay to be here so be it as apart from noise it won't but it is affecting the local people a lot . I don't think they are laughing . So please no more sarcastic remarks feel luck it's not near you . Enjoy the rest of your weekend my friend
