Hi - I am looking for a way to get from Alicante airport to Palomares without a car. I'm grateful for any ideas - for example, how much would a taxi cost? Taking the train and bus I've already looked up - it takes at least 5 hours - and then I'm in Vera!

I have thought about buying a car (we have a house in Palomares) - but I might have to park it at the airport in Alicante for quite a long time when I go and come and I can only be in Palomares 4-5 times a year at the moment. Car hire is very expensive at the moment - but isn't this perhaps the cheapest option? Thanks in advance for your answers, tips and ideas.

Angela

Exclusive airport shuttles your best and cheapest bet. Look at their site and drop-off points

Car hire prices have dropped a lot now we're out of peak season. They were eye watereringly expensive in the summer. Try comparing on Doyouspain.com, https://costacochesrentacar.biz are very reasonable but don't seem to have that many cars available, so sell out fast. A taxi is very expensive, I've looked at that option before and dismissed it. We ended up buying a car and using AA parking to leave the car at Alicante Airport between trips. Good luck

Yes I did the same, bought a car and you can use either Almeria or Alicante airports with AA parking.

Check out ‘exclusiveairportshuttles.co.uk’. They also offer pickup/drop off from your home for an extra €10

Another vote for exclusive airport shuttles.

A member recommended them to me when I was going to Spain last month. Great reliable service. Delivered us to and picked us up from our urbanisation

Hello and many thanks to all who have helped me so much with their information! For us it is now relatively clear that we will buy a car - we were surprised that parking the car at Alicante airport is not as expensive as expected.

Unfortunately, the airport in Murcia or Almeria is out of the question for us, as we are Germans living in the Netherlands. There are no flights to Almeria or Murcia from Germany or the Netherlands so far - so only Alicante comes into question for us!

We are not sure yet what tax and insurance will cost for a used small car in our province - but we think, all in all, this will be the financially and also logistically cheaper solution than renting a car 3-4 times a year.

Now, if anyone has any tips for us on where to safely and reliably buy a used small car, I would be very happy.

Many thanks to all - Angel

Hello and thanks again to all! We now have the idea to bring our approx. 11 years old VW UP! from the Netherlands to Spain and register it there and buy a new (used) car here in the Netherlands for the last 3-4 years before we can finally move to Spain. Does anyone have any idea what it costs to import a car (11 years old) from the Netherlands? I know it's different from importing a car from the UK - but maybe someone still knows! Kind regards and many thanks! Angel
