There is no bus service from the airport to Palomares. You would need to get exclusiveairportshuttles from the airport to Mojacar pick up bus along the coastal road to Vera Playa and then there is a bus to Palomares and on to Cuevas del Almanzora. I'll see if I can dig out some times. We bought a property in Palomares late last year and really like the feel of the village/small town. Some good bars and restaurants, like Monika's near the campsite and Akua on the beach, shops including a couple of small supermarkets, banks, a hairdresser, pharmacy, and with cycle paths to Villaricos and a short distance to a big Consum it's a good area with a nice mix of locals and expats. Back out on Thursday :)

Good luck with your search.

PS. just found the bus timetable between Vera Playa and Palomares and it's not exactly what you'd call frequent:

Yes we fly in either to Almeria or to Murcia, and very occasionally to/from Alicante or Malaga, but usually it's Almeria or Murcia. This week it's in to Murcia, mostly because I need to go to Ikea, and then back from Murcia again on Wednesday next week. Either airport is fine for Palomares with the journey from Almeria Airport at about 55 minutes and from Murcia to Palomares it's just over an hour down the very quiet toll road then past Cuevas del Almanzora into Palomares. We always hire a car: from Almeria we use Avis or David Baxter at Al Andaluce (cash only), from Murcia it's always the premium plan from Centauro. That's the most expensive of Centauro's plans but it gives an extra driver free and, most crucially, they don't block off anything off the card which is practice I hate. Mainly we are going to our holiday home in Los Gallardos as the property in Palomares has been bought with the intention of hopefully renting it out short or long term.

If you are thinking of Murcia and are not renting a car you need to be aware that the public transport connections to and from San Javier Airport are absolutely terrible and you'd really need a taxi. Hopefully it will be better when they move the airport to Corvera around the end of the year.

From Almeria, as I put in my last post, exclusive airport shuttles are highly recommended but won't get you all the way to Palomares although it does get you the Consum which is just 5 minutes in the car to Palomares and you could probably get a taxi from there (I've never done it so am not sure) which would be cheaper than a taxi all the way from the airport. The exclusive airport shuttles website (and they do private hire taxis too) is at https://exclusiveairportshuttles.co.uk.

If you book with exclusive airport shuttles they will take you to the Consum supermarket at Vera playa. When you book the coach with them you can also book a taxi to Palomares at the same time. I have an apartment in Palomares but have not yet used exclusive airport shuttles yet. However my sister has an apartment in villericos and she uses them and.their taxi from Consum. The taxi is about€9 to villericos so imagine it's a bit cheaper to Palomares

Have you already found  a property. I have a property to sell in a gated  private part of Palomares. With  uninterrupted views of the sea over looking farmland. When I go I use the shuttle service mentioned already and they take me to my door. Pamela

Hello Tracey

Can’t remember off hand. When I booked it there was an option to book a taxi, which I did, thinking I would have to,pick it up from Consum but  he took me direct to my apartment. I don’t live in Spain full time. I can certainly email details of the apartment to you.  Pam
