Hi, just to make sure what we're talking about; you've actually asked for two different things there and I CAN'T tell you which is the best.

However, regarding using the services only whilst you are over here, Next Comunicacions offer an internet option which allows you to suspend/re-activate the service for any number of '30 day periods' asking for just a few days notice. There's a small retainer fee of about €3.00 a month. I think it's called Next Vacaciones.

Piggybacked on to this they also do a TV service comprising of all the main Freeview channels. There's a one-off payment of about €100 for a little black box and a couple of cables. One connects the box with your router (ethernet cable) the other connects it to your telly (HDMI cable).

Just like everything else that's useful it's frustrating when it doesn't work properly, and it's not 100% reliable. The signal for the internet is transmitted from a radio mast and picked up by a little square receiver which they install on your roof or high up on the side of your property. It's subject to atmospheric conditions and general Spanish ineptitude. I have toyed with the idea of changing to a different supplier in the hope of a better service but as I'm a skinflint and don't want to pay for premium TV services I always end up sticking with what I have got. On balance I think it's good value for money.

Hope you find something that pleases you.

Jimbo, there’s a someone on this forum by username Duggy that can offer an absolutely stunning Firestick-type package that plugs into HDMI on TV and is controlled by one of the best remotes I’ve seen (I don’t have it, but assisted my neighbour in setting it up) … it’s a fraction of the cost of the Next package that she was also on.

She (neighbour) also had the Next wireless mast which as you say was prone to faults. Switched to Digi Fibre Optic which is 30€ a month for 1000 Mbps - yes, that’s 1 Gb/s.

I’m on the same Fibre Optic internet package and its brilliant.  We live in Vera Playa, just along from tbe Repsol garage so right next door to Palomares

I rang Next for pricing on the Internet and TV packages yesterday

Since they were recently taken over they do not offer any TV packages to new customers and their customer service response was poor so no use to me

Contact a user by name of "Duggy" - does an absolutely fabulous TV package at a poofteenth of the price that Next was
