You can do all this on line now and that includes uploading a new photo. Once you have completed the on-line form and paid the fee you just post your old passport to the relevant office in the UK, they will send your new one to your address here in Spain.

Its very easy you can do it all yourselves on line, or you could use CATS but they charge.

I can give you a phone number who will do it cheaper than CATS if you have problems doing yourself. 

I would get a sworn photocopy of your old passport before sending it away
