Hi, I just wondered if Oria was a nice area as see some lovely houses there and we’re looking to buy next year. Not had the time to see that area when we were over in March. Can anyone give me some knowledge on the area? I’ve heard it’s cooler as higher up but that might not be an issue for us. TIA

I have had a house in Oria for 18 years and lived here permanently for 12 years.  The town has everything you might need except a vet, but there are two good vets in Albox.  We have a brillant 24 hour medical centre were once on the Spanish system you can see a doctor with having to make an appointment.  The temperature is a few degrees cooler then the coast which is a benefit in the summer.  Evenings October to February are chilly so you need some for of heating.  March and April the weather is very changeable from hot to cold depending on if we have wind or rain.  I enjoy the different temperatures because it feels a little like seasons, for me, hot all the time would not suit.  Also the cooler evenings means you can sleep.  I hope this helps, there a an estate agent in the town if you would like the info please let me know.  As a foot note my daughter loves it here and is moving over in four years time.

Thank you for the feedback. Can I ask are the shops and restaurants good in Oria or is it a very small village?

We have three mini supermarkets and a carafore express, which is similar to Tesco express.  There are seven bars which all serve tapas and meals, they have Spanish style restarts but the good is good.  We have a great butcher, two hardware shops a very good body shop for car spraying or repairs.  A car repair garage and a tyre and car repair garage as well as our own petrol station.  The town has its own ambulance which is based in our 24 hour medical centre.  We have a small post office that is open 1.00 until 2.00 Monday to Friday and if course a very helpful town hall that has a translator on staff.  The town has approx 2500 people not counting all the hamlets and pueblos dotted around.  We have our own primary and junior school and there is coach transport for the senior school. We have a great mayor who welcomes all nationalities.

Hi,

I am new to the forum, and appreciate the helpful comments.  I am renewing our search for a home base in Spain after Covid and life events put them on hold.

I am seeking somewhere that has stable internet provision as I work online.  I am also interested in what winters are like in the area, as I envisage being in Spain for 6 months in Winter and travelling for the rest of the year.

Any information from anyone who has recently made a move from the UK would be most welcome.
