Hello, my name is Neil. This is my first post on this forum. I am currently in the process of purchasing a property in Oria - ‘Gregorio’s Pizzeria’.  I’m due to complete next month.

I fell in love with the area after extensive viewings and visits to properties across Spain. I never envisaged that I would ultimately buy a commercial property as I thought I wanted to take early retirement. However, once I viewed the property I realised I had one last adventure left in me.

There’s work to be done to the property before opening (I haven’t 100% decided what to do with the property yet) but before I do anything I wanted to ask the local community if there is anything you feel the town needs or could benefit from that I could incorporate into the property? I think I would like the property to become a community hub for everyone, somewhere where they feel they belong.

I look forward to reading your responses and if it’s ok with the admin people I will keep the forum updated as to my progress during the coming months.

Thanks for taking the time to read my post. 🙏

Hi Neal,

We dont live in Oria full time unfortunatley but have a house here and are over as much as we can (including now!),. Not going to advise you what to do, but we used to enjoy a great evening sitting on the balcony there overlooking the Basilica with a few drinks and a pizza..but theres plenty of places to get pizza now ..Whatever you decide, Im sure we'll pop in during the summer and see what youre up too so will look forward to your updates and the very best of luck to you !!

Paul

Hello Paul - thanks for your reply. I am genuinely undecided on what to do with the property at the moment as I  also saw there were already  a few places to get Pizza in Oria. All I know at this stage is that I am very excited and feel that I want to create something that is inclusive and where people feel relaxed. I will definitely keep posting updates and look forward to welcoming you and your family when we are open. 🙏

Hi,

We are new to Oria ourselves, sice December.  Not sure what business you should set up but an local english would be useful for shopping.  I was thinking of starting a bridge club up and having somewhere to play would useful.

Everyone are nice and friendly and helpful here.  We are near bar Frax just outside the village.  We are there most friday faternoons from 6pm if you'd like to join us.

Hello Mo47 - genuinely I have no firm idea as to what to do with the property. All ideas are welcome. I will be a newcomer to the area and if ok with people I will very much be relying on their input as to what they would like to see at the property in order for me to make an informed decision.

Regards

Neil.

Hi Neil, I live just round the corner (probably 100m as the crow flies) and take in guests short term rental and it would be great to have somewhere very close that they can go eat/drink or get a takeaway.  Reliable opening times/days is a must in my view.  Maybe once you are set up you could drop a menu into me or have one available if I pop along at some point.

Cheers,

Andy.
