Hi, my friend adopted a Staffie pup and was definitely required to register her with the local Guardia.  She herself was assessed by the Guardia for her fitness to control the dog and had to present a medical certificate from her Doctor  confirming her fitness. In addition she was told by the Guardia that it was absolutely imperative and she required by law to keep the dog on a lead (1.5m max) and muzzled at all times when out and about.  There are extremely large fines issued for failure to comply and if you or your dogs are reported by another dog walker or member of the public ( for example  they jump up to greet someone or play with their dog and it gets nipped accidentally) the Guardia have the authority to take your dogs away to be euthanized - Staffies are generally lovely and gentle but not everyone understands that so please, comply with the law and be very careful.  Wishing you and your dogs all the best.

Better to take on a normal dog, plenty of ordinary dogs  looking for a good home

All dogs are normal, unfortunately it's the owner that often isn't normal in it's upbringing!!

But you are correct on the matter of ordinary, if you mean rescue?

Hi, the law is the law and should be obeyed but in roquetas de Mar there are lots of these types of dogs out and about. I wouldn't know if they all have a licence but I do know that very few are muzzled. Maybe the the police are not to bothered with fines but I'm sure they would if anybody got bitten.
