My parents' water bill has increased from 50 to 240 Euro for two months running. They don't have a pool and can't find any leaks. Water company has been unhelpful till now. Has anyone had a similar experience? I presume water rates haven't increased this much in the last year or two?

our water rates are never more than 25€ a month so they are paying far too much perhaps they have a faulty meter can they read it themselves is it running when they aren't using any water?

Is the supplier Galasa? perhaps a visit to them with an interpretor may help.

That is high.  Are they cleaning the patios with a hose?

No, the pipe was leaking visibly below the meter before Christmas. Their insurance company repaired the pipe, and the meter doesn't appear to be turning when no water is running, but the bill is astronomical. It's a mystery. They're going to complain to the water company but have tried once before, unsuccessfully.

Thanks for the responses.

is the bill for water lost before you had the repair?  you could claim that on the insurance if it is.   We had a weak with a 700€ bill and that was covered by our insurance.
