Not sure I would class Antas as close to beaches. For anyone.buying out here the best advice is; If possible rent for a 3-6 month period so.you.can thoroughly explore the area. As for Estate Agents, we bought through Spanish Property Choice and weren't that impressed. It's a bit of a crap shoot really. They want to offload.property.irrespective.

8% purchase tax..

Telplay for Internet, variable speed contracts.

Solicitors- we used Juan Rubio Granados in Huercal Overa for all 3 properties. Fees were probably 400€ less than Mr. Davies in Mojacar itself as Juan's fees were all inclusive so no addons for arranging/ transferring services, IBI, etc.

After 13/14 years we use primarily Spanish as way more honest & reasonable. Thank the Lord for GoogleTranslate. In addition we tend not to employ local hire as more expensive on coast.

Always get multiple quotes in writing if poss and remember that to many out here you are yet another ignorant mark.

It only takes ten minutes to Vera Playa from here, and to be honest, judging by the amount of traffic in Garrucha and Mojacar yesterday,I'm pleased we don't live down there,in fact we rarely go to Mojacar in the summer.......too packed!

Bob Again,

He's right about Mojacar. The Mayoress decided.to have an Esplanade.built right along the beach front. Although yet to be finished it has denuded the area of much of its parking and you see vehicles going round and round. Sometimes takes us 10'minutes to pull out onto the main road. I avoid.the apartment/'Mojacar July/'August.because of this and grockles. Spain generally is noisy, sometimes unbearable. Still by renting you can decide for yourself as everything really is personal & relative.

Friends of ours had a house just inland a few hundred metres from the green cross(not sure what that area is called) and they eventually had to move as their parking space was always being used by holiday makers, and it took them hours to get to Mercadona and back for shopping,it must be so annoying.

Hi

My husband and I are just buying a property in Mojacar, as a second home, somewhere we intend to spend quite a lot of our time. We are due to get the keys late June and I was wondering if anyone can give advice on us sorting out Satellite TV and broadband as well as places to purchase all things ...

...a home needs.

Just in time for the holiday season when the beaches are packed, cant get a parking space lol.

But honestly welcome to the area, we're 45 minutes away inland, peace and quiet in the country and visit Mojacar when its quieter for Sunday roasts and walks.

Very popular place, lots of good cafes, great beaches. Enjoy.

When we were first looking, Arboleas was the area we considered going by the place in the sun programmes suggested but the area is huge, many properties are so remote and the infrastructure, roads etc not that good.

We viewed 7 properties on one Saturday with a great guy from Coles of Andalucia but some of the roads he took us on were like Rally Corsica with single tracks and hundreds of feet drops lol.

We were advised to look at Antas but decided on Urcal, we ueed Voss homes and Cam Concepts for all the legal stuff like the NIE and CAT Services and "The Garage" near Albox for metriculating the car, almost done, just need Spanish plates, our driving licences and Residencia.

Have fun, welcome, nothing like being able to sit outside in the fly free watching the sun go down, nice breeze, still warm, wondering if we should have another dip in the pool lol.

Hi, we were looking in November and January, had some time in Oz, partner had holidayed with a friend in a small place called Urcal near Huercal Overa and even checked out the property she actually bought.

Lovely 3 bed 2 bath with an 8x4 pool, soon to get a full on pool enclosure.

We used Voss homes, we did go and view around 7 villas, most with pools in the €170,000 region, this one was €169,950 and partner offered €158.000

Ok as has been said there are taxes on top, theres padrons, if you intend coming full time theres residencia, NIE is a must to buy property, cars, any large items really and as formal ID if you ever get stopped by either the policia local or the guardia civil.

Then theres metriculating your car onto Spanish number plates and getting it thru the ITV, the Spanish mot.

Driving licences come after that but everything is totally worth it.

Being able to do a bit of shopping, then sitting down for a cheap coffee and tapas is just one perk,  theres a market on somewhere every day somewheres lol, theres english stores in most

places. And then theres the weather of course.

As above we used Voss and Cam Concepts in Huercal Overa both of whom we'd recommend wholeheartedly. Some will suggest/recommend others.

We live 5 minutes from the A7/E15 motorway, 12 minutes from Huercal Overa with its world class hospital. Theres plenty of other good medical facilities, for us its the total peace and quiet most of the day. We can use the pool to cool down, a fly free is a must no matter what size.

We were recommended to go check out Antas but partner had her heart set here in Urcal and as above we love it.

Coles of Andalucia, Almeria property finder, etc etc, there are two, possibly 3 free papers per week and now, two maybe 3 monthly magazines available in lots of places. Full of information,

These forums are a great place to start.

You'll be advised tha Mojacar in spite of having some great beaches and entertainment is hell on earth at summer time because everyone and their grandmother descends there, you cant park.

Living inland, we're 40 minutes from Garrucha, Mojacar, Villaricos etc, the road system an general infrastsucture is great. M25 ? And here are like chalk and cheese lol.

Ask away, private message people and you'll get great info.

Hope I've not bored you thus far.  As above, everyone has an opinion but you'll find everyone is friendly and helpful, even the Spanish, put Google translate on your phone, your tablet and until, if ever your Spanish is good enough you'll get there. Lol

Have fun.

Hello all,

Newbie here to the Forum and to Mojacar.

Based a short 10 min walk from the Parque Commercial.

Best Regards.

Dave.

Hi, can you update your details as its (today),  March 11th 2018 and the last p0ost, hopefully helpful is listed as being April 15 2017 !!

Partner and myself live in a beautiful villa roughly 45 minutes from the coast, we did the Sunday market at Vilaricos and then dropped down to the southerly end of Mojacar and enjoyed half price pizza with drinks and dessert in the sunshine right on the beach at Imperial Pizza.

Our location is a lovely little village called Urcal, lively bar/cafe most days with well stocked if small Coviran supermarket, doctors surgery, school, 7 minutes from the motorway, 12 minutes from Huercal Overa, we've been here days short of 12 months and love the peace and tranquility the village affords, have a great group of lovely friends, nice mix of Spanish and English.

Hope you found what you were looking for and had fun finding it.

Regards Ann and Jim
