well there I was thinking this will be the last time and the doctor hit me with now you come every week for 8 weeks to have a chemo injection!  so the PICC stays in place and the trip to Hercal Overa becomes a weekly one now.  Today was really bad appointment at 10.48 but not seen until nearly 1 and then the treatment so didn't get out until 2ish needing food!! and coffee!!  Hubby was waiting in the car listening to the radio and the battery went flat!!! so he had to call GRUA and get a jump start, told to him run engine if going to wait for such a long time. Apparently if you need to change a battery on a Ford Kuga it is a mammoth job involving a lot of the engine being moved to get the old one out and fit a new one.  Who said modern cars are the way forward?

Well Alicia, another fun appointment, like you every time I think you are coming to the end, they spring something more on you, still at least they are being through. I had an informative appointment this week, went to have an eye check, which was fine, I asked the optician if the backs of my eyes were OK, as I am diabetic, so important that they are checked, she told me that opticians in Spain aren't allowed to check the backs of eyes, your GP is suppose to send you to the main medical centre once a year to have them checked, and she wondered why he hadn't been doing this.!!!!!!

Anyway have a good day

just had third chemo went in at 9am then sat in a chair until 1pm!!! talk about numb bum and a real need for the loo,  No information on why it took so long and a small drink of orange juice offered at 12.  Then had to hang around until 5pm for my second covid jab as didn't feel like making another trip back and forward to the hospital.  Result of jab was very sore arm next day.

Hope next week it won't be as long again the 1sr and 2nd were only 1 1/2 hr sessions.  Another 5 to go yet now I have no eyebrows and as it has turned hot the sweat running down my face is great.  Also had meds prescribed by the Oncologist which were not available at the Farmacia due to factory production problems and it took the one in Vera to sort out a different type for me thanks to the very helpful young lady there.

so now i am on the last period of chemo 3 sessions to go.  Today is not a good day however as I am tottering all over the place and knackered.  The oncologist said I will hear by telephone the information reference Radio therapy in Almeria, I want to discuss this not be told i have to have it so hoping to arrange a appointment with Ana y interpreter to so that at the end.  As it is over 6 months since my lumpectomy and they said they took the cancer and the margins were clear not sure that radio is needed with all the extra travel and hanging around for the treatment.  Anyone else had this experience and what would you do now if you had a choice?

Lovely lady in Gladrags in Albox is offering a free turban to ladies having Chemo treatment so I will be gratefully taking her up on that offer as my hair is still missing  and i think it will be for a while yet.  Hubby calls me his little hedgehog.

so today went for last chemo and didn't have to have it.  Reason over the weekend had the most horrendous reaction to the last lot from Tuesday.  Bright red peeling forehead like full on sunburn, swollen.flaky skin all over both arms hot and itchy, breathing problems and balance couldn't walk or talk at one point.  Husband rushed me to medical centre and doc prescribed  antihistamines and allergy tablets which worked miracles overnight. at the clinic today presented letter from Doc an told to wait 1 hr later thought they would remove canula but no they cleaned it up rebandaged it and then said go to nurse in medical centre in 10 days to get it removed!  Not sure why if no more chemo will wait and see if get sent for now.

Next step is radio therapy so waiting for phone call from Almeria  any one used transport to get there for treament?

Sorry just dropped on this post by chance . I just wanted to say you sound a strong , resilient lady and I wish you all the best . I’ve had a brush with the big C and my treatment was swift and brilliant in the uk . I think the waiting lists are more for knees ,hips and things . If you have life threatening condition they are on it straight away . This poxy COVID has caused chaos and heartache around the world . Once again hoping everything goes ok and you can get back to a normal healthy life . And well done for being strong enough to share your experience with us . John Dev

So radio therapy is over and now i have no more treatment until follow up appointment in Feb 2022.  The radio was ok the only down side being everyone gets a 9am appointment and then you get seen as you log on when you arrive.  A couple of days the transport was very early and then it was much later so lots of waiting around.  The driving experience for the passengers was an adventure! lots of different drivers and attitudes to safety from eating a baguette at the wheel, to digging earwax out with a pen!!  to singing flamenco songs along with the radio and of course the usual checking of mobile phones one for work and one personal.  but they don't have any accidents so it's all ok!!

one day there was a lady on a stretcher her daughter and another couple from Garrucha and me and the driver said we go back via Carbonaras, ok except he meant far into the Sierra to the back of beyond and when we got there he had to find someone to help him with the stretcher patient as he was on his own.  That trip took over 2 and half hours to get home.

But water under the bridge now and just need to recover use of my legs for long walks and life will be much better.

nearly one year on now and still not completely fit (can't make the hill up to our apartment yet) but at least I can keep up with the old man when we go for a walk and no longer need a walking stick.  Hair has come back everywhere sadly I enjoyed hair free areas like legs and underarms!  hair on head is now straw like and grey and still very short and curly it was straight and blond before but at least I have some now.  Onwards and upwards for now with follow up in Feb 2022 hopeful that I have beaten the big C for good now.  If anyone is facing the same journey feel free to talk to me.
