Anyone else watching the new series?

I find it hard to believe that the ‘buyers’ genuinely buy given the choice of only three properties shown to them by one Agent! There are hundreds of properties matching their criteria if you search on Rightmove.

Also, most of the properties so far seem to be right out in the countryside and out of SPCs normal ‘Mojacar’ area of operation.

As the saying goes “That's Television 📺 “.  I bet none of you enjoy watching it for the ‘entertainment’ value, but just to pick holes in it.......

Personly we like it, yesterday they even showed us our friends place in Velez Rubio, SOLD!

Suns out, seas calm, all the Tapa Bars are open and the holiday makers are having a wonderful time. Chill 😎

It is one must remember 'the land of the telly' it's made for entertainment, and certain TV production 'methods' will be used.

It is unlikely to be ''a true'' reflection of the buyers full set of choices, I expect more properties are shown to the people but the length of the show will not allow the full list to be aired.

I used to wonder about the 10% - I guess the buyers do know but the show wants to keep the story-line as uncluttered as possible and so does not get too technical.

SPC used to have a notice inside the Mojacar branch asking 'do you want to be on the show?' - I expect the production Co select who they want to show on TV under their criteria for example X No who buy and Y no who don't

I don't expect you could make a case for statistical validity based on No of viewers that turn into purchases, it is likely to be distorted for TV?

In the same vein as 'Storage Wars' where episodes result in magnificent wins and bad flops every week - it's a show and the average day would not, I guess, be so interesting and eventful

I love this show. I have been going to Mojacar since the 70s and this show is such a revelation on how much the area has changed since then!

Of course it's edited for entertainment. I'm sure they are busy enough that rarely do two agents go to each viewing - let alone the three owners! There has to an agreement with the property owners too whether they want their house broadcast to the world.

I have met Steve and they are like they present themselves on TV. I like the fact that as many buyers don't decide to buy as do. I like that they do the occasional follow-up. I wish they would do a few higher end properties - I am a bit bored with the 70-150 price range, though I guess that is the majority of buyers!

Remember it's the production company that chooses the format and vets the participants. But what a great advertisement for the area!

Hi

We went out to SPC in April, we saw 12 properties over the course of a week and bought one that is on season 2 episode 4 in Limaria.  All charges are explained on their website including taxes and the process of buying.  We should be finalising everything soon and will be out permanently by December. Excited.  Love the programme and trust Sharon and Steve to ensure that everything is legal.  We have a really good Spanish solicitor taking us through the process. That's a must when buying and always get a survey just as you would in the UK.

Loving forward to our move.

Susan

Interesting, you were shown 12 properties in all, but does that gets whittled down to 3 for the show?

Our place was on ‘A Place in the Sun’ last year - ours was the favourite but they didn’t buy it in the end, although it sold anyway a few weeks later anyway!

They are very false !!!! It’s all fun for the TV I know I’ve bought from them and they are no way nearly as friendly as they appear

I purchased an apartment last year THROUGH SPC.  They don't just show you 3 properties normally I understand that they show 3 a day so as not to overwhelm.   Must say I was very impressed with them. I did try another agent but was very disappointed and stated that if I did buy a property it would only be through SPC and I was very pleased with that decision.

SPC now have an office in Huercal Overa, two blocks away from from Voss Homes in the old "Hub" building.

The deposit scheme wasnt explained to partner and I dont believe it was mentioned during the 1st inspection visit we had with Coles of Andalucia whom we started out viewing one villa before we got here but actually viewed 7 on the one day !!

It's pure tv. We were at a Spanish property expo in London some while back and Place in the Sun were inviting visitors to audition for the show back then, presumably if you got thru the auditions you would be invited to Spain or wherever to view selected properties which are viewed and vetted by a host of staffers, the illusion created by the presenters where they "find" three or five properties depending on the show is corresponding a bit false.
