👍Have done that journey a few times now, seems to work out better than the ferry from Bilbao/Santander.That would be ok but they insist that you have a cabin and that puts a 100 euros plus on the trip.By the time you mess about on the ferry you can have done plenty of miles/ kilometres up throu...

Hi

For me the Portsmouth/Bilbao ferry is the best option. I've done both the drive to Calais and the P/B ferry a number of times now. There is almost nothing in the cost by the time you put the fuel, tolls and a night in a hotel ( and the Calais/Dover ferry ) into the equation. If anything the ferry can work out cheaper.  The main advantage of the P/B ferry is that it's far more relaxed. You drive less miles and put less miles on the car. Granted it take a day longer but all in all its a much more pleasurable experience that the long haul from Calais to Mojacar.

Hi

We are looking at doing exactly the same next Wednesday, our apartment is going into summer rates which are 4 times the cost. We have had 2 ferry cancellations. We are going to drive to Bilbao and try and get a repatriation ferry, I have waited 8 days so far for a reply to my request from Brittan...

...y ferries. If we cannot get a ferry then the plan is to carry on through France to the channel, but going on line the eurostar seems to be booked up for days and days.

DONT  go direct to BF.  get onto Govt U.K.   Traveling home to U.K.   It will give the list of countries. Select Spain, when it opens scroll down to FERRIES. there is a box to send a message.  Give your name and Must give Booking ref.  They pass it to BF. they will reply with dates for the repat ferries.  Wednesday s or Saturdays from Santander.  I had booked 21st July  Bilbao to Portsmouth, myself and two weeks ago and  my friend done the repat thing Yesterday and was offered same day same ferry onboard the Cap Finnestere.   Hope this helps.     Here are the pages you will see.  In this order. 🤞.

This is the last page where you fill in your short message and must give your booking ref.    Good luck.

Thanks that's very helpful, I have tried that, again over a week ago but no reply and no confirmation that the message has gone or been received. Doesn't anybody send emails these days that a message has been received and being dealt with. Thanks

Nick

Seems to be a trend these days to not acknowledge emails unfortunately.😁 The other thing I have found recently is if you call they say we are only operating at a limited capacity because of the lockdown...

No.  We didn’t get an email either.  Just contact from BF.  A few days.

We prefer the Santander or Bilbao route but we have a dog and finding a  'pet friendly'  cabin on a ferry is almost impossible. The kennels are awful and distressing for dogs and owners.
We are crossing to Dieppe and staying in Bordeaux overnight this time.
Any suggestion on getting to Mojacar from there? East or West of Madrid in February?

We appear to have two options , through Zaragoza (East) or Burgos to the West.

Many suggest the longer (time & miles) western route, why would this be?

Hi, can anyone suggest a safe hotel with underground or secure parking as have bikes on the back of the car. In Santander, or outskirts, that’s dog friendly, clean and comfortable please?

We normally stay in hotel Bahia but will have a dog next year with us & don’t except dogs!

Any suggestions how to book a dog cabin in the ferry as I looked this year as soon as it was released, they all had gone!   Thank you 🐶🐾
