Can anybody tell me how o go about getting the criminal check please?  Who do I go to?

Just go to the gov.uk website and do a basic DBS check which cost £23.50 each person. Both my husband and I did this and it sufficed for the Spanish Embassy.

I've literally just done a basic DBS check, so if it's possible to use that instead for the ACRO police certificate, that would be great.

Can you confirm how long ago you were able to use a basic DBS check and at what Embassy? Everyone else I've asked (including immigration solicitors) says that a DBS check is not sufficient and that is has to be an ACRO police certificate. But if it's possible to use DBS checks then that would save me some time.

Hi Steve I got the basic DBS certificate sent it off to the lady helping me with my NLV and she told me that it's got to be a ACRO criminal certificate, so I had to get one of them going back at least 5 yrs. You can get one from ( acro.police.uk) hope this helps! Graham.

Hi - I am in the process of getting all the docs ready for the NLV,  you do need the ACRO certificate,  I had mine back within 3 days,  £55 for turnaround in 12 days or £99 for turnaround in 4 days.

You are correct we have just gone through it all as you have stated ☺️

You need an S1 certificate from nhs just ring them and to register the S1 in the area you are going to move to (spain)just before you apply to the  spanish embassy as if it is already registered in spain you will NOT need private health. We used spanish solicitor that had office in london, they did the whole process. Ring round for best prices !
