How will you manage if no hotels, restaurants or even public loos are open? We thought about doing this route, but it seems onerous.

Excellent route, we have travelled this lots of times. Rouen can be a bit busy, you have to watch the underpasses through the city, but have a good trip!

Vic

Yes, we always the route Vijack suggested, no problems.

If you just go on the website and click the covid19 info and read the ceos message they have cancelled all may sailings and are issuing refund vouchers that are valid for 2 years and aftet speaking to someone who works at portsmouth ferryport June lools unlikely too.

Are the June sailings definitely cancelled, or a suggestion/rumour from Portsmouth, firm info greatly appreciated. Thank you

We were sailing back from Bilbao on 28th of May, but have received nothing from Brittany ferries, and I cannot log in on their website. Have you had similar problems? We have decided to wait for the next available ferry. Nick

Thanks for the replies but what I really wanted to know is anybody else in a similar position but has received an e-mail from Brittany ferries, and/or can log in under their booking reference?

Nick

Hi

This all depends when you plan to go back to UK. On the basis that Spaniards can't travel between Provinces I think its unlikely you will get far. the way I understand it Phase 4 of the lockdown will allow much more freedom of movement. Ferries will only operate when they have a port(s they can go to. ferry companies are not in control of this. My advice would be to stay in touch with the Spanish news - El Pais is good, and also Spainenglish. Getting out of Spain should be your priority.

Travel in France by then will be very much the same - businesses , hotels will be open. And probably by then you won't have to go into quarantine when you get back to UK.

Hope all goes well!

To follow up

I think I may have replied to the wrong person!

However, to all, I think trying to get back to UK , by car. anytime before the end of June will be pretty futile.

Sorry to be so pessimistic!

Can you tell me what FCO is and what are these attestations and where do you get them. TIA

Hi the FCO is the uk governments foreign and commonwealth office which supplies advice and information to uk citizens travelling abroad. Attestations are the declarations you require for each person for each day that you are travelling through France along with proof of onward travel such as ferry or tunnel ticket. Attestations are available to print or download from the French government site just google it. X

We are driving from mojacar to girona, overnight in a government approved hotel from the governments list. Crossing in to France and travelling to Calais hotels in France have never been required to close so there are still some open. Attestations downloaded from the french government allow travel through france for onward travel to the uk via the channel tunnel or eurostar.Travel through spain is permitted for foreign nationals returning home. We will not be sightseeing!! The lockdown in spain and france is easing today Aires in France have always remained open for hauliers and other road users. We have not made this decision without advice and careful planning as some people seem to think!!!!
