Hi Nadine, I hope you had a good Christmas and New Year. There are risks of course to buying off plan but I’m happy with my purchase. I’m not sure if there are any new build apartments being built at the moment in Mojácar. Plus of course it all depends on your budget. I’m sure whether I wa...

Hi Sandra,

Am sure you made a very good brave choice!

My budget is not as high as had wished and thought as in December 2021, my pension fund Retirement Annuity Trust) manager announced that due to tax law change in Guernsey I can no longer take the whole sum in cash ( which I was told I could if I left the channel islands to relocate in France/Spain agreed in writing!)but they only told me late in the day as the law changed 5 years ago and in meantime I had made purchase plans based on that amount! So a big disappointment and choc

However I do have capital from savings and but my budget is below £80 K !! So i will need to be brave and creative with my search, location aera etc…but am confident I will find something decent.. Hopefully

Without being indiscreet were you in a high budget bracket/ do off plans appartmentsvary in prices?

Thank you

Nadine

Hi, many thanks for the email. It’s quite daunting doing a move abroad on ones own but I’m sure plenty of people do. I just wanted to reach out to other single people who have done it or in the process. Plus of course find areas where as a single person it would be easy to fit in and make fri...

Hi Sandra,

I made the move to Nerja February 2018 at 58 years of age and single. Best decision I have ever made. Nerja is a great place for a single lady to have a good life. There are plenty of activities to take part in, Padel, walking, bowling, arts & also many other social events. The rest of Spain is easily accessed by public transport, we are only 1 hour from  Malaga and Granada. I moved before Brexit and the requirements to become resident in Spain have now changed. Check out what is required to obtain a TIE residents card. Good luck with your future move.

Hi Kay, my post is quite old as you will see. I moved to Spain in Sept 2020 to Mojácar and have obtained my residency and Spanish Driving License before the WD Agreement. I hope you are enjoying your life in Spain as I am 😊

Hi ,

I am thinking of going for long periods or relocating to mojacar after going twice.

There are lots of singles and pubs where expats meet weekly. I felt totally chilled and would feel fine on my own. Never felt like that anywhere else.

If you are meeting up In September, I will be there from 9th to 18th and would be happy to visit the same venues. Just let me know the vibrant places to go and I will be there over a weekend or even in the week, I go over once a month and go out anyway, but it would be nice to meet a friendly group whilst there!

Best wishes

Danny

Hi I got my rental through Mojácar Rentals. As part of the withdrawal agreement I had to have a legal and signed 6 month contract as I didn’t own a property here. I organised my rental on-line while I was still in the UK in August 2020, as I did my Solicitor here in Spain. If it hadn’t had b...

...een for lockdown I would have come over to Spain and stayed in a hotel for a week or two and had a look at rentals in person but no hotels were open and agents were not showing people round in person because of the lockdown and all properties having to be “COVID “ cleaned. I didn’t like my rental property at all but I had signed for the lease so was stuck with it!!

Hi Sandra,

Well, I hope things are sorting themselves out now and you are settling in.

I made the move to Spain 9 years ago but ended up near Torrevieja. But now....I'm planning on selling up and renting in the Almeria region. I've no kids so it seems daft to chuck all my money into a house. Not sure what area I'll end up in but maybe we might end up swapping stories over a drink one day?

Anyway, good luck for 2024.
