CAT SERVICES (Laura, if I remember correctly) told me on the phone last week that driving licence transfers cannot be fine until after residencia is obtained.
I was a bit dejected at this as my own application for residency is still not nailed down, though I do now have the Padron sorted.
Ok great thanks. My Residencia is done (just need the finger prints) so once I’ve been to Almeria I’ll contact Cat services. Will oli find them on the net?
Also i think if you import a vehicle the same time as residencia it is a lot cheaper and possibly easier. Best contact them asap?

Sadly Spain is a hit and miss, depending on who deals with your transfer. And the 6mth ownership can rear its ugly head.
I have just imported a car from the UK, purchased on the 27th July. It is going for matriculation tomorrow as being a Spanish resident I only have 30 days to register onto Spanish plates and the company doing the transfer are fully aware of the facts.

Hi, I got my LHD Volvo estate from a local dealer In Surrey but my wife got her LHD Smart car from a LHD specialist in Basingstoke. They have a huge range of cars available so check it out on the internet.

You all watch your pricing with lhd cars from uk....traditionally way higher than rhd equivalent..
Only way it may be cheaper is a vehicle already on Spanish plates.
In the past it was difficult to get a decent s/h vehicle in Spain, now reams of them.
Also there have been some very good deals on some new cars recently and i reckon cheaper than uk... especially direct internet.

Agree about the cost element of U.K. LHD cars but I got just what I wanted. You pay your money and make your choice.

Hi, we have literally just sold our car and purchased a more practical LHD car from that company in Basingstoke too, picked it up last Wednesday
They were very helpful and can provide local contacts in your area in Spain to register the car too
Must admit did not know we had to own the car for 6 months though 😬
