We have been advised that roads into Mojacar have been closed to keep us safe. Is this correct?

You definitely get stopped by the police and asked your business. My brother is in Cabrera and always gets stopped both ways going to the shops in Turre. He has to produce his bill for the shopping and my sister in law has to stay at home. two in a car is a no no.

I’m sorry to say but it’s absolute bullshit .

I have lost count of the amount of lies that have been posted , it seems to always come from certain forums , I’m afraid I can’t name them as there’s that many of them I lose count .

There’s been reports of EVERY car being stopped going in and out of some areas , maybe true but somehow I doubt it .

I went shopping and to look over a job on Friday and I witnessed one cop on the road , I covered about 30 odd kilometres so I hit a few villages on the way , and when I shopped at mercadonnacnear vera there were 2 soldiers on duty , which was seriously not needed.

The thing I would say is follow the rules , keep ya documents with you , take shopping bags , shopping list and every document u can think of , but also remember this , if the police , guardia or army tell u to do something , just do it , it’s the right thing todo .

Yep! Totally agree. There are police around but I have not seen any cars stopped yet. Since the lockdown I have traveled to and from Mercadonna in Mojacar from Turre on Mondays and Thursdays and there are police in Mercadonna but they are not doing much other than pointing out the disposable gloves. The police have not stopped me on the road and I'd say the roads are getting progressively quieter.

I think the Guardia are doing a great job.Yes they are strict and rightly so.I learned the hard way. They stopped me while walking on the playa.Asked for ID.I only had my driver’s licence. They insisted on seeing my NIE.As I didn’t have it on me they followed me back to my house. When I got back I could only find my passport. They told me I was going to be arrested and locked in a cell until I would be brought before a judge. They eventually relented and warned me not to leave the house again. They said I could only go to the supermarket or farmacia nearest to my house. Also said to have receipt for shopping.

Believe me you don’t mess with these guys.It was a chastening experience. When I do go shopping now I have photos of my passport,NIE and driver’s licence on my phone.Mojacar appears to be Coronavirus free at the moment.Lets support our law enforcers and keep it that way.
