Hi we completed on our property last week and used GCEN they were excellent and we saved a lot of money using them.

Claire was our contact I can send you her email if you like

We were very anxious not having done anything like this before but she was really good keeping us informed every step of the way

We also used a solicitor called  Maria at Mundi Abogados in Vera she was so nice very professional we gave her power of attorney and she got our NIE numbers for us opened our bank accounts and set direct debits up for us for utilities.

Again she was excellent and kept us informed along each and every step of the way

We fly out to pick our keys up next month and can't wait.

Good Luck in your search we were very hesitant at the beginning but are so glad we did it.

Regards

Trish and Mike

This was a spooky reply.

We also used GCEN back in 2015 to buy our house in Bedar and continue to use them now whatever the amount we are transferring.

We also used Claire  and she/they have always been very helpful and knowledgeable and have a great cheerful

way on the phone and even when you meet them direct as we have done. They have always made sure we get the best rates.

And Yes we also used Maria and Esther at Mundi Abogados in Vera . They were were and still are very professional and have helped us every step of the way through our House Purchase and also to this day as we have also given them Power of Attorney.

We cannot Fault either GCEN or Mundo Abogados and would highly recommend.

Thanks for info.  We were lucky enough to have similar help from our agent/solicitor in San Jose.  I know most people using this forum are near Mojacar, but just in case there are other users from the area around San Jose, I would strongly recommend her.  She does everything for us, speaks English well, and even talks to the bank if we get a letter we aren't sure about.   Above all she checks the house for us if we're not there, for example, if there is a storm.  She is based in the square in San Jose and is a treasure!

I too used GCEN but I've just used Cornhill FX for a better deal - my advice is to shop around ''every time'' as in my experience providers can get complacent and think you'll use them whatever, I just got over 350 Euros more!

Hi

I have just bought an apartment in Roquetas de Mar. Definitely dont just transfer from your english to spanish bank account. You will lose out. I registed with some curreny exchange websites that are mentioned in these replies = GCEN and Excel then a friend recommended Transferwise in comparison the rate I got with them was the best so I used them and would highly recommend.

I regularly use Transferwise for topping up my Spanish Account on a regular basis. Best rates and reliable. You can use the app on your mobile to do this, transfers the next day. They also operate a borderless account card where you prepay and no transfer charges, lots of currencies serviced.

I have used TransferWise for over 2 years, they have been fantastic. My bank here in Spain ‘lost’ €1000 that had been transferred from the UK. Transferwise sent to me proof of delivery of the transaction. The bank here did nothing to track the money even after calling to the bank on too many occasions to mention to get my money. As a final resort I emailed Transferwise for help. They pursued the Bank(s) as more than one are involved in these transactions relentlessly. They too could not get the money recalled, it appeared that our Bank in Spain would not cooperate. Even though Transferwise had proof that they had done their part correctly in the process, they informed me that they would compensate me for my €1000 which they did. I can understand that people have reservations in using these internet electronic transaction companies, but Transferwise have been terrific with me. I highly recommend you give them a try and their exchange rates are up there with the very best.
