I currently use a Caxton FX Prepaid Currency Card for most of my day to day spending and have a Sabadell Bank account for all my direct debits and use Currencies Direct to top this up from my uk bank.

Looking at today's rate for £715 I get €796 with Caxton and  €800 with Currencies Direct.

WeSwap would however give €806. I wondered if anyone has used them for transfers or as a pre paid currency card and if so how good/bad were they?

I have looked on line at customer reviews but as always these vary from excellent to rubbish!

Try Revolut, great card and you get the actual bank rate.  Would get €814.52 for your £715 today.

I have a correo express card.. loaded it up for hols to states and got daily rate everywhere, you can top up from your bank at €2 or in correo for €1, very easy and very convenient....with an online app you can see all your purchases and your balance. ..love it

Kevster - I've seen your recommendtaion for Revolut a couple of times on here, so I tried it.  Initially I was very impressed as I made small transfer to my Cajamar account at a very good rate.  Then I tried to use the card for an online purchase, which was a total failure.  Revolut tell me that they "don't support the merchant", which doesn't make sense as it's a Visa accepting merchant, and the Revolut card is a Visa card.  Have you tried online purchasing with Revolut? Does it work?

Hi, to be honest I only really use it as a method to transfer sterling from my uk account to euros in my Spanish account at a great rate and no fees. I did try to withdraw cash from a cash machine just to try it and that worked  ok.  It does say you can pay at anywhere that accepts visa so I am surprised your online transaction didn’t work but have never used it on line.

We use Transferwise and get great rates and quick transfers to & from the Spanish account. I also use it as my main UK bank account although Mrs E still has a Santander account..

I use TransferWise to transfer money from UK to Spanish Bank Account. Get mid-market rate after paying a minimal fee, e.g. £3.95 for £1000. They also do a prepaid MasterCard that also serves a similar great rate. Thoroughly recommend after 4 years of usage.

I also used to transferwise and currencies direct in the past and had no issues with either but as far as I know Revolut are the only ones who give you the actual interbank exchange rates and there is no fee. Makes quite a difference to the number of euros you get to the pound.

I use Revolut which allows you to top up in the app from any bank account or card and transfer into Euros or any other currrncy in real time at the interbank rate.

You can set rate alerts so it notifies you if ever a certain rate is reached.

I upgraded for a monthly fee of £6 which allows you a higher limit of fee free ATM withdrawals but more importantly unlimited free transfers to your Spanish bank account. I used it when we bought our house recently and transferred the entire amount myself at the interbank rate and without fees. Better than any currency exchange service.

Never had any issues with either in store or online transactions and have used it for both numerous times both in Spain and UK and other countries including Ukraine.

Everything is managed through the app including security features etc

Would highly recommend it to anyone who moves / spends money in different count

There's more than 1 interbank rate. The rate banks use to transfer between them is LIBOR and I doubt if we get that. I would guess that Revolution and TransferWise give us mid-market rate and don't charge a fee if you use their pre-paid credit cards both of which I have.
