I thought you might find this interesting.  I inquired with a transport company about flying my dog from Dublin as airlines now only transport animals via specialist companies. Only Malaga has facilities to accept a dog travelling this way and the cost quoted was €1,800 euro one-way.  It is a ripoff.

Wow that is mega expensive! Fortunately we are only 2hrs from the  tunnel and this will be our best option. Just need to find hotels/lovely people  along the route that accept our spoilt dogs🥴

My advice would be to get an early evening train and stop at a hotel just near the train terminal then set of early next morning other members will advise on onward hotels but the good hotel for your fist night is this one

https://www.hotel-bb.com/en/hotel/calais-terminal-cite-europe-3?arrival_date=05/29/2023&departure_date=05/30/2023&r1_ad=2&testClick=false&Gclic=B&wh_token=a154b13e-8c3d-4faf-94bf-fdf8b5da2792-206337-4732&utm_source=hotelfinder&utm_medium=metasearch&utm_campaign=fr_conversion_gha_free_calais-terminal-cite-europe-3

the dates I put in are just for ref, it is pet friendly and people friendly ample secure parking in fact the most secure parking in the area as there is a squad of the French police staying there so dont be alarmed by seeing them in uniform with their guns

It's been a long-time since I've seen a dog in the cabin. It was probably a domestic flight in France!!! Ryan air, easy jet etc don't take pets in the hold/cargo. I just need to find someone who has experience of using an agent for transporting pets!

Hi,

I brought my dog over by ferry.  Had  a dog friendly cabin, walked on dog deck. Nice and easy.  Ferry to Santander.  Dog passport needs to be up to date including rabis vacsination.  Drove through ok.  Dont forget dog needs a car harness in spain.

Thanks for your message. As I have discovered, pet Air travel rates come without a conscience!

We adopted a dog in 2020 who came from the Alicante region. The company who transported him were called Pet Set Go. They are on Facebook and were excellent.

If you need can Animal Heath Certificate I can’t recommend Pawsome Pet Travel (also on Facebook) enough. They are much cheaper than vet practices and are lovely to deal with.
