We would be extremely grateful for any advice on great walks with dogs in and close to Mojacar. We move in 3 weeks with our 2 year old German Wire Haired Pointer. He is super high energy so long walks off the lead are the main goal and if possible walks that can include the sea where dogs are permitted would be amazing. Thanks so much!!
not many walking areas like that here in Mojacar unfortunately, most beaches ban dogs all year and walks are aimed at people with dogs on leads. Walking off lead is usually in the ramblas and countryside.
Scrubland walk up small lane opposite Neptuno restaurant, then cooling beer by the sea

Good to know. Amy recommdations for countryside walks also appreciated. Thanks for your time and help.
Beware when walking dogs off lead on the campo or rambles, the hunters will shoot if you cross into their hunting boundaries and farmers dont like dogs off leads on their land. Lived there for 12 years and had good experiences and very bad whilst walking in the campo.

Exceptionally helpful. Thanks
there is an area in front of the Marina Hotel by the bowling green which is used by dog walkers it's a landsite which is not being built on at the moment and is fenced but there is access through the fence and there is a lane by the golf course at the bottom which comes out on the front by the Marina Playa hotel. also between Mojacar and Garrucha there is an area of land where you could let your dog run but beware of the ticks and snakes which may be in the undergrowth.

Thanks so much. Really helpful. We have snakes in Scotland which can give you a nasty bite but I'm not familiar with what type of snakes we might encounter in spain!

they have a viper and they can grow to a very large size! We had one in the wall in our villa garden when we lived in the campo and often found they skin when it was shed. We have seen dead ones that are quite big on the roads.
There is a good walk over the cliff top in Mojácar to Macenas Beach, there is a rough car park practically at the very end of the Paseo walk way opposite The Best Indalo Hotel or you can drive to the beach. Obviously no dogs are allowed on the beaches now but some people do risk it early morning or late at night. It isn’t a popular beach for sunbathers or families as it’s very rocky and no toilet facilities as far as I’m aware. There are tough tracks that take you to different towers which you can climb to the top off there is also a Chiringuito Mecenas which opens 11-7pm you can find it on Google. Further along there is an area known as Treasure Island which also has a Chiringuito. Again some people let their dogs walk without a lead.
