Firstly can I say I've stayed away from this forum for some time as views can easily become toxic rather than helpful but this issue has been raised to see if solutions can be raised as well as opinion.

We own a property in the Marina de la Torre area of Mojacar and have just returned to the UK after being there for two weeks. It is noticeable that the area is fast becoming a dog's toilet. Dog muck of every size, shape & texture is everywhere , pavements, paths, planted areas and so on. Can someone please tell me what is wrong with the mentality of dog owners in Spain, (and I'm referring to all nationalities), who cannot see that they are destroying the beauty of the area and making it smell like a toilet. This is not unique to Marina de la Torre as this is a common feature of the pavements in Mojacar and Garrucha, & I've noticed during this winter period the same is happening on the beaches. It's a mess? Why don't local officials and owners get a grip.  Wardens issuing large fines and bans may help? It's just embarrassing!  I'm a real dog lover so not anti dogs at all but for the love of God just pick it up and bin it. I've raised this to garnish some reaction from owners who do and don't pickup though I'm guessing the later will be too ignorant to respond.

woman fined by DNA identity for her dog after failing to pick up on her holiday nice 650€ pity Mojacar hasn't got the same system.  at the back of our apartment the holidaymakers think they have the right to let their dogs crap and walk away from it all the time.

It's not just holiday makers. It's residents of all nationalities too. We should be careful not to simply think residents are without blame, and in all cases I've seen  they are Spanish residents or Spaniards visiting holiday homes, or other European nationals doing the same. However that does not remove suspicion from UK Nationals residing or visiting.

Well what I find Alicia.its the Spanish that are the worst culprits. I've witnessed it on many many accessions doing my walks along the player.

Yes, I'm will you on this.  I live in beautiful Mojacar and It really really gets to me.  Why dont they want the area to stay beautiful.    I laugh at some people they look around them as the dog his doing its business business then scarper  off.

My hubby is always telling them if he catches them in the act.

Bloody ignorant dirty people.   If the town hall had some sense they could have a warden going around and possibly the amount of money they made in LARGE fines would pay a wage for a warden.   Then people might start to think again  about leaving  the crap .

Rant over.
