Devo, You appear to be a gentle man and see only the good in people. I say this in a friendly way. But, the people here who allow their dogs run free on restaurant terraces, who refuse to clean up after Fido drops its load on walkways, who refuse to acknowledge the potential danger dogs can provi...

...de towards people, who flout laws that ban dogs from beaches, who paint over public signs advising pet control, who allow their dogs bark at night, who refuse to put muzzles on dogs which by law is demanded, etc etc.

The culprits know what they are doing. They are not stupid. Ask them to mend their ways and they’ll hit you with a torrent of abuse that has the effect of an Exocet missile. They come onto fora such as this and have the opinions of good people (who are law abiding) thrashed, threads deleted, etc.

They don’t stop there. They lie. They do everything to deflect attention. They even defend animals that potentially cause savage injuries or even death. Irish media is currently running with a story where a new born child was savaged to death by the family dog on first meeting. The child’s sister was attacked by the dog immediately after and somehow survived with dreadful injuries. I could copy the news cutting to the forum, but the content is not for the feint hearted. Before this discussion ends some of the so called animal lovers will try to somehow defend the dog.

I don’t think I could breathe the same air as these people. Or worse again share the same area. They don’t care about anybody, why should I extend an olive branch to them?

I respect animal owners who are the opposite of what I have described. We have two dogs and I have no hesitation saying they are man’s best friend.

I was going to post a reply but am scared now as don't want the abuse .

After seeing that the 2 UK idiots that owned a bull breed dog which killed a 10 year old boy have both been jailed I do worry that the same might not happen in Spain..... which means people do not care how their dogs behave when  left off the lead. Also did I just dream that there is a new law in Spain which means you are unable to own more than five animals....( any 5 or mix of)... unless they have a licence?

Hi Mathew all I was going to say is we are in a very small village only a couple of people speak English really lovely place but sometimes just sometimes it is a nightmare .

One dog barks that's starts another and then barking nearly all night . I find it hard to understand that if you have a dog for security why not take notice if it barks ? It happen one women on her own dog barking all afternoon she was asleep on sofa and got burgled,  can you see my point .

It does get you down sometimes that people have no consideration for others .

I will leave it there

Hi Bobske, Dogs bark, dogs have to answer call of nature etc. Nobody has a problem with such. It’s when dogs are a threat to life or allowed to poo in public places where its owner refuses to clean up the droppings, waiting staff fondling animals and not even to think about sanitising hands before serving food, animal owners blatantly refusing to muzzle dogs which is required by law, owners who refuse to have full control of their dogs in public.

Dogs can be man’s best friend. They perform many beneficial roles e,g, security, friendship etc. I have two dogs and wouldn’t be without them.

If you think I object to people caring for dogs you’re wrong. However, I do object to dog owners who abuse the laws of the land and allow their dogs to behave in a threatening or unhealthy way.

No you see I have dogs have had them all my life but they bark for a reason find the reason and stop them barking . Yes ok about clapping etc you are always going to get people who don't care and to quote yourself Mathew FOE SECURnot much point if you don't take notice when they are talking to you .

That through the night also spoils quality of life .

1. Jenni has much more issues than I thought.

2. I tried to help her with her presentation skills (or lack of) and all I get from her is abuse. But, sticks and stones . . . I never said anything about her grammar. Her reading skills need attention too.

3. Now she is an ultra feminist . . . What next?

4. Thank God, I don’t have to sit next to her on a long haul flight.

5. Thank God for Devo, a welcome breath of fresh air on this forum. But, Jenni has issues with his love of National Hunt racing and she wants the Grand National banned.

6. In the previous thread that was deleted Jenni informed us that she disliked dogs pooing in public places and in restaurant terraces. Is it fair to say has she changed her mind? Does she speak with forked tongue?

I agree with Jenni in reference to the grand national .... the jumps do not need to be so high and the water jumps so long for a start...... many horses are shot after due to injuries or sold for dog meat as unable to race again..... never talked about unless seen out on the course!  They are pumped with chemicals and are not allowed out in the fields as other horses are.... except for a gallop in the morning they are stabled..... unnatural...... But hey ho a few idiots make money out of it.....

We have one dog near us that barks throughout the night..... It is not a guard dog as guard dogs barking for a reason and only when they are attracting attention..... not continually all bloody night. I discovered that the owner ...Spanish.... had a nearby restaurant. So off I went to politely ask him if he could take the dog in between midnight and 7am at least......   The conversation finished with him shouting F---ing British!  Delightful man!  (Many of our friends say he always smiles when they go in to his premises..... of course he does he wants their money!  Not so may are going now though...)  A group of us now have to go to the trouble of denouncing it so we can get a night's sleep....

Maybe they are talking to us:

Dog Reports Owner To Police After Owner Shares Naked Pictures Of Them Online

A PAIR of Dublin dog owners are in police custody after their sick and twisted behaviour was discovered, WWN can reveal.

Gardaí found Martin and Sandra Hefton in possession of over 1,000 images of their dog in the nude, taken without consent, which they also circulated online.

Alerted by the victim, gardaí raided the Heftons house and discovered a nearly endless supply of openly sharing the naked dog photos.

“Not only where the photos often taken when their dog, Pippa, was asleep they delighted into sending the images to friends, family and work colleagues. They really got off on it judging by the variety of excitable emojis they attached to the photos,” explained Sergeant Noel Copper.

“They developed a bit of an online following for this disgusting stuff, and one dog food company even sent them free stuff as reward for their postings, beggars belief” added Copper.

Barking to WWN, Pippa spoke of her sense of betrayal at how Martin and Sandra, who could get up to 10 years in prison, exploited her.

“There’s zero remorse. Always telling me I was good girl was clearly part of their sick attempt to gain my trust, but these sickos even talked about how other dogs and myself would make cute puppies. Planned it even. Ready to pimp me out like I had no say in the matter,” shared the brave retriever.
