Devo, You appear to be a gentle man and see only the good in people. I say this in a friendly way. But, the people here who allow their dogs run free on restaurant terraces, who refuse to clean up after Fido drops its load on walkways, who refuse to acknowledge the potential danger dogs can provi...

The culprits know what they are doing. They are not stupid. Ask them to mend their ways and they’ll hit you with a torrent of abuse that has the effect of an Exocet missile. They come onto fora such as this and have the opinions of good people (who are law abiding) thrashed, threads deleted, etc.
They don’t stop there. They lie. They do everything to deflect attention. They even defend animals that potentially cause savage injuries or even death. Irish media is currently running with a story where a new born child was savaged to death by the family dog on first meeting. The child’s sister was attacked by the dog immediately after and somehow survived with dreadful injuries. I could copy the news cutting to the forum, but the content is not for the feint hearted. Before this discussion ends some of the so called animal lovers will try to somehow defend the dog.
I don’t think I could breathe the same air as these people. Or worse again share the same area. They don’t care about anybody, why should I extend an olive branch to them?
I respect animal owners who are the opposite of what I have described. We have two dogs and I have no hesitation saying they are man’s best friend.
I was going to post a reply but am scared now as don't want the abuse .
