The La Fuente bus stop in Mojacar is less than 100 metres from the Hotel Simon. Have a look at the google maps link here which is also in the image below.

Hi everyone
I am coming over to Mojacar on 8 Oct to look around as I am thinking of buying a property here plus have a relaxing holiday. I have used airbnb and booked an apartment in the Playa Macenas Beach Resort. I wasn't planning on hiring a car as I don't enjoy driving and prefer to wal...

...k/use local buses to get about. Can anyone advise please if the resort is within a reasonable walking distance (say 30 minutes) of shops/restaurants/beach etc? Also I am having trouble locating an airport shuttle stop that is close to the resort. It's making me worry if the resort is a lot further out than I originally thought!
If I were to bite the bullet and hire a car, how hectic is the traffic around the airport/Mojacar and is there plenty of car parking about in Mojacar?
Many thanks in advance
Sarah
Macenas resort not suitable without car.DAN
Let's call a spade a spade here. The OP booked accommodation well away from Mojacar Playa. The bus service to her "resort" is not great. Hiring an "automatic" car has become a problem. The poster prefers bus journeys and walking to renting a car. The problem regarding purchasing property has quickly become a side issue. I hope she does not lose sight of the real objective.
I suggest you rent an apartment or stay in a hotel in Mojacar Playa and in the area between Parque Commercial and Hotel Indalo (not to be confused with Pueblo Indalo Hotel). Then you are near the estate agents that matter ("that matter" being the important words). Obviously, you should cancel your accommodation in the Macenas complex. Not only is the golf course closed, it's damaged bigtime - promised much and delivered little - a course well below par.
We don't know if the OP wishes to eventually rent out the purchased property. There are lots of things we don't know. Playa Macenas has beautiful properties, but I am not sure I would not stay there or even try to rent them to punters without informing them of the full truth i.e distance to decent supermarkets, shopping centre, etc.
Sarabeth, don't be offended, but I think you're on the way to becoming a lamb to the slaughter. I feel you have much homework to do regarding purchasing property in Spain. Look up some expat websites and devour any information you can find. Fortunately, there are some such good sites catering for the needs of expats and future expats.
Hi Dan and Matthew
Thanks for your comments. I took on the advice of other posters and relocated to the Hotel Simon which is in a more central position and from where it would be easier to walk around/get local transport. I originally booked with airbnb as it looked a great apartment and it was advertised as being in Mojacar so I wanted the experience of staying in an apartment rather than at a hotel with amenities I wouldn't likely use. However I got suspicious after the owner wouldn't answer my questions regarding more precise information about the location. Thankfully kind people on this forum put me straight :)
I am coming to Mojacar to have a holiday plus look at properties in the area with the view to relocating permanently. As my family will include my retired father who will want his own space, (ideally separate annex), I'm not rushing into buying anything as the property and location has to be right for everyone. I have been doing a lot of on-line research about different areas but nothing is going to beat physically being in the location and having a good nose around/chatting with locals.
Cheers :)
Sarah
