I said better access to Spain. I could travel legally when tourists could not.

How? When restrictions were in place here, it was residents only - there was never an allowance from Spains side that said “and those who own property here”

That might have been a UK exemption when travel restrictions were in place there, but it was never an exemption recognised by Spain.
