Hi, we are hoping to buy a property in Los Gallardos, that we will want to do some modernisation to. This will include knocking down some walls, refitting a kitchen and bathroom and some decorating. Can anyone recommend a builder and decorator. Thank you

Lynn

Having been here for 15yrs and ripped off.innumerable times, mostly by Brits, we are now almost exclusively Spanish. However, gratefully we have the most professional builder who we are more than happy to recommend. However 2 things;1. Get quotes, if poss itemised & in writing, &,2. Firms on Coast or coastal are almost invariably more expensive. E.g a carpenter local to where you are intending to buy quoted 135€ for some work to our doors which Richard completed in 2'hrs carrying on for a further 7hrs, everything on our list in fact, for 90€. Richard isn't on.coast.So it's Mr. Richard Miller (&Bob-painter) of."livethedream". I can give you his contact details but why not look on www.arboleasforum.co.uk under local tradesmen and women and see all his recommendations. He was also a kitchen and bathroom fitter for 20yrs in UK. So he has carpentry, plumbing & electrics and has done all.these & tiling at our 2 properties.Give us a pm if you can't find details and happy to HONESTLY recommend those true professionals we have used and those we definitely would advise against. Don't worry, they won't go hungry, there's loads if mugs & to spare.Dr./Colonel Bob and Sandra(not the PAINTER).PS just used an excellent transport Company as often cheaper to bring specific things from UK. Saves searching here and there. Free delivery to Andy in Folkestone & job done. Another local Co wanted 140€, Andy 75€. Absolute perfection.

Thank you Bob, your post is extremely helpful and I will definitely  look at the forum for his recommendations. Its quite daunting looking for  decent tradesmen for Spain whilst living in the UK so word of mouth is very useful.

Hi Nola,

E mail is [email protected]

Mobile is 656 30 83 30

Believe me he is excellent. You can find his references on www.arbolead.co.uk under Local craftsmen.

He is a total perfectionist & not a rip off.merchant as many on coast.

Best Wishes,

Bob and Sandra

Hi Andi,

We always use Andy & Cheryl of www.meandmrsjonestransport. They are here at the moment & back to UK at beginning of March.

If they are not able to help, then Jimbo the Scot on www.

Best Wishes,

Bob and Sandra
