We’re moving over to Los Gallardos at the end of April, Coronavirus permitting, and going for our residency. I’m 63 and my wife 60, so are aware we have to get private medical insurance!! Having said that, I’ve just read an article suggesting that it’s possible to get Spanish medical care by paying 60 euros per month! I’ve never heard of this before, is anyone on here able to confirm, or not, on this please. Thanks. Gary

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

Thanks for that Kevin, I assumed it wasn’t openly available. Gary

Dario et al,

Does anyone have any experience of using the convenio especial and/or private healthcare and able to explain the differences?  We took an all-bells-and-whistles private package in order to get our residencia, and now considering whether there is any benefit in a move to convenio especial.  There isn't a huge cost difference, but I wonder whether a state system is potentially better than a system where an insurer will usually try to wriggle out of paying for anything.  Fortunately (I am frantically touching wood) we haven't had to make a claim, but if I find myself in Urgencias, is it better to be part of the state system, or private, or is there no difference?

Paul
