Hi, my mum and stepdad live in Los gallardos and are both retired. My s.dad has very recently suffered a stroke and my mum is struggling to look after him and keep on top of daily tasks on her own. She is a retired nurse so is pretty good at looking after his care needs but isn't in the best of health herself.  If anyone is able to offer some emotional and or practical support in these scary times, I would be so grateful on behalf of our family who in the UK. Thank you and stay safe everyone x

P.s mum is not brilliant with techy stuff, hence me posting this on her behalf...that plus she doesn't want to ask for help because she doesn't want anyone to put them selves at risk

Hopefully you will get professional carers reply. They will have all the equipment needed to protect them and your parents. Other than that try the Town Hall as I'm sure they will be eligible for home help.

Hi there is a charity called Age Support Almanzora  phone no. 0034 634 316 573, I think you might find they will give you the support your parents need, and as a charity I don't think they charge, perhaps just a donation, they are on facebook, so you could message them. Hope this helps.  Good luck Jenni

Where abouts in Los G are your parents...I am on Heurte Nueva...My husband broke his hip 3 days before lockdown so its been tough as there has been zero help out there for us....zero...any help Iv got is because I joined a forum that a friend set up...Im not sure how I could help....but I am willing to try...if you  PM me I will give you my phone number......even if its to do shopping or just listen....

It is really hard here if you have illness or are elderley....I help some neighbours already....so I can at least check on your parents...and if then you decide they need proffesional care you can think about paying for proffessional care...but that would be a last resort atm....Im sure all your parents need is to feel they are not alone...and I am more than willing to make sure they are ok pratical wise....your Mum being a nurse can ask for help for your Dad if she needs it....My Spanish friend is helping out with translating etc and shes doing it because she wants to help elderly people as well...

Oh carol that's so kind, if you don't mind I will forward this on to my mum. I think you are right about needing to feel like they are not on their own, especially as they only have basic Spanish.  Really appreciate your offer. Hope your husband is recovering well . Take care x
