Alicia 11 my Husband and myself have just returned from the UK to Spain where we live and  have residencia after a very long hard and tiring drive there and back and I have to say the UK is a complete shambles. The amount of idiots not wearing masks especially the younger element and as for social well I don't think they have heard of it.  On the other hand P & O  ferries from Calais to Dover and back were just brilliant. The safety measures that were in place ie social distancing and hand sanitizers, the staff and the people serving food were brilliant, well done P  & O. We are one of the lucky ones who managed to get home one day later and we would not. Our reason for this trip was not for pleasure. We recieved a phone call to say my husbands Mother was dying and would not make xmas.We were due to fly to the UK Yesterday 22nd but for safety measures decided to drive and hope we would not be to late to see her. We even told and checked with our local policing before leaving. So Alicia 11 before you write on this forum with your sometimes harsh and nasty comments think twice. Oh and by the way we did not go trolling shops and do xmas shopping either.

The advice not to travel has ever only been aimed at second-home owners / holiday-makers wanting to come out for Christmas in Spain.  Never has it been suggested that anyone who’s home is Spain should stay away.

Glad you got back safely, welcome home.

Whilst on this topic where’s the logic of Spain demanding a PCR test with negative result if you arrive by air or sea but allowing people to drive into Spain without any such checks

Also husband paid for pcr test and Spain air port didn’t check anyone on the plane

I’m not sure how you can read that all the cars at Dover have English number plates . A mate who is a lorry driver said most of the cars/vans are Eastern European folk trying to get home and not all heading to almeria . Second hand English cars are bought to take back into Europe as the trade is cheaper in uk . I don’t think you will get a flood of people as most have too much love and respect for mojacar and area . Like football hooligans that spoil it for the majority some gits spoil it for the rest . Take care happy Christmas folks

I would not have thought it would be practical to buy a uk plated car to sell in Europe now the uk is leaving the block? When you are not even English ? Unless you know something I dont

A lot of them go to Eastern Europe to be sold for spares or re-registered

Thanks Cj , I don’t know of the rules and regs about re-registering a car with uk in ,Poland ,Hungary or any other of the Eu countries. But I do know that a lot of vehicles bought at the car auctions I used to go to ,pre COVID , where bought to go abroad . I know to change plates in Spain it’s expensive and second hand cars are expensive and not straight forward to buy . I think we tend to think of uk ,Spain ,France maybe Germany and forget the other 20 or so countries .

It’s about feasibility. People getting off a ferry or plane have to go through passport control. The land border with France is not manned/staffed, it’s a motorway with four lanes travelling at high speed.
