Hola all. After reading and taking note of advice from you all we are holding onto our home in UK, which will be rented out, please could someone tell me the process of renting in Almeria. My husband is Irish and I am british. We are hoping to rent for approximately a year but possibly longer.
What documents will we need to secure a rental property?
Thanks for your Help and advice in advance

Your husband being Irish means he gets in as an EU citizen, you’ll be able to claim Residencia as the dependent on an EU citizen.
Renting is relatively straightforward - come out for a holiday, find somewhere you like, and take a rental. If in your husbands name, there should be no issues.
you are of course restricted to 90 days, so hubby will have to get on to applying for Residencia first thing, and you can begin application as dependent of an EU citizen - as soon as you lodge your application, that “stops the clock” for you and you don’t have to worry about the 90 day limit.
For Residencia, the first thing you’ll both need is of course an address - so renting will be important; you’ll need a rental of at least 6 months to qualify. Once you have that, you register for the Padrón at the Ayuntamiento; then arrange whatever bank documents you need to prove finance as an EU citizen (9.050 € savings or 5.200€ per annum income), and also you’ll need health cover. With those three things in place, Residencia should present no difficulties and then you can live :-D
For the first 5 years you’ll be obliged to spend a minimum of 183 days a year here to maintain continuous residency. After 5 years you are permanent residents and can spend up to 2 years continuous outside Spain without forfeiting residency.

Just so that everyone knows, it IS possible to fly to Spain from UK for a variety of reasons.
We flew in on 2nd May from Manchester to Alicante and travelled onward to Bedar.
We have applied for our TIE but do NOT have it, we are due in Almeria 12th May.
If you have a letter or email to confirm a house viewing with a view to buy or rent you are entitled to travel, if you have any business in Spain, say an appt with a solicitor you are entitled to travel etc etc.
However I would NEVER condone irresponsible acts everyone has the right to protection from this horrible virus. We chose not to travel until after full vaccinations, in our case Pfizer which had no I'll effects, plus we do not socialise and take extra precautions. This included wearing gloves for 2 hours plus on the plane!
Hope this clarifies some of the points raised above

If you are a holder of an EU passport such as an Irish passport you can enter Spain. Although you will need a PCR test
