Well that got back to the doggy debate . Now for the feral cats ? Just to add I will be strolling along the playa mid February for a month or so watching out for dog poos and irresponsible dog owners and if they are more than 11 stone I’m calling for Geordie and his shepherds . Full  Stop ...

.... And sorry a long sentence but I did leave school on my 15th birthday and never very good at the writing bit .😂

Feral cats.  I wish I could give them aaalllllll a home - at the moment I have to settle just for the two rescues I do have

1. Jenni has much more issues than I thought.

2. I tried to help her with her presentation skills (or lack of) and all I get from her is abuse. But, sticks and stones . . . I never said anything about her grammar. Her reading skills need attention too.

3. Now she is an ultra feminist . . . What next?

4. Thank God, I don’t have to sit next to her on a long haul flight.

5. Thank God for Devo, a welcome breath of fresh air on this forum. But, Jenni has issues with his love of National Hunt racing and she wants the Grand National banned.

6. In the previous thread that was deleted Jenni informed us that she disliked dogs pooing in public places and in restaurant terraces. Is it fair to say has she changed her mind? Does she speak with forked tongue?

I’ve never painted a rosy picture - only a realistic one.  I’ve said that nepotism is rife here, that English is not widely spoken and the country does have its own issues.

But woman as 2nd class citizens??? What tiny little patriarchal village were you living in? Because that is most certainly not the case in this area.
...

...

As for your assertion that you can write to government departments in the UK in any language and they will translate … I take it you’ve not actually *tried* that have you? you’re just going on hearsay.  Well, if that’s what you wish to believe …

Yes, Spain has issues, none that are insurmountable and certainly none that relegate woman to second class status - what utter drivel.

Spains history with animals has not been blessed with being a shining example, but as the older generation with those cultures and conservative ideas fades away, new ideas and cultures that are more planet-friendly are germinating and growing.

It’s a wonderful time to be in Spain, to experience this change.  I don’t suffer too many challenges here Jenni - but maybe that’s because I welcome and am grateful for the dawn of each and every day, choose for it to be a good day, don’t go around with a permanent scowl and don’t expect people to speak, or even understand, English.

Yes Dario I have tried it with a Romania refugee that needed help, there was no problem, also you can check it out for yourself you dont have to take my word for it, if you ring the Winter Fuel Dept on 0800 731 0160 the first thing they say is ' Do you want to speak to someone in English press 1' for other languages press 2. the same with the International Pensions Division.

They whole of Spain is misogynistic , that why on all official  documents the male name comes first,  Only in the last 10 years have they started to have woman Guardia. I grant you it will get better as modern woman will not tolerant this.

Why is it Dario that when someone disagrees with your opinion you get stroppy even nasty. Dont follow in Matthews footsteps please.

Hands up baby . I really love this banter . Strangeas it may seem , I would really enjoy Jenni, Mathew and Dario’s company but perhaps not all at the same time or place . Isn’t it nice tho that we have this forum and opportunity to voice our views , imagine if it was in a bar in palomares with Biggles , Andy , Stuart , with Geordie keeping order . Why doesn’t the lovely Costa almeria forum Alex organise a family get together to put faces to messages , a little once a year do . How interesting that could be , we might find that some of us are not so bad and others are as obnoxious as they seem on here . It would be a hoot . Jenni I will pay for your flights . Dev

Why is it Jenni when someone disagrees with you you get very stroppy and quite insulting?

Why is it that every time Spain is mentioned you go out of your way to paint a wholly untrue negative picture?

Turn that frown upside down Jenni.  Everyday can be an absolutely stunning day if you but choose to see it.

True Dario a smile in a while is better than a frown . Make the best of what we’ve got . I don’t think anyone on here sets out to antagonise anyone . We just all have different views and theories on life . Some of us rise to a bit of provocation and others to like to bridge the gap . I’m one of the latter . It’s easy on line to be a tad Bolshie , different story when face to face . Typical forum thread this as as usual it’s gone on and off the original / original post which disappeared then got restored . Dogs are great , they poo , but not on walkways and not picked up seems to be the common consensus. Sorry Jenni but roll on Cheltenham ☘️🐎

Devo, You appear to be a gentle man and see only the good in people. I say this in a friendly way. But, the people here who allow their dogs run free on restaurant terraces, who refuse to clean up after Fido drops its load on walkways, who refuse to acknowledge the potential danger dogs can provide towards people, who flout laws that ban dogs from beaches, who paint over public signs advising pet control, who allow their dogs bark at night, who refuse to put muzzles on dogs which by law is demanded, etc etc.

The culprits know what they are doing. They are not stupid. Ask them to mend their ways and they’ll hit you with a torrent of abuse that has the effect of an Exocet missile. They come onto fora such as this and have the opinions of good people (who are law abiding) thrashed, threads deleted, etc.

They don’t stop there. They lie. They do everything to deflect attention. They even defend animals that potentially cause savage injuries or even death. Irish media is currently running with a story where a new born child was savaged to death by the family dog on first meeting. The child’s sister was attacked by the dog immediately after and somehow survived with dreadful injuries. I could copy the news cutting to the forum, but the content is not for the feint hearted. Before this discussion ends some of the so called animal lovers will try to somehow defend the dog.

I don’t think I could breathe the same air as these people. Or worse again share the same area. They don’t care about anybody, why should I extend an olive branch to them?

I respect animal owners who are the opposite of what I have described. We have two dogs and I have no hesitation saying they are man’s best friend.
