That is exactly why I am asking the question!  I know of a number of people who have travelled to and from Germany with dogs in the hold, apparently without I’ll effect and it seems to be pretty common in the USA.  I understand that they need to be told well in advance so they can adj...

...ust the temperature in the part of the hold where dogs are kept, but what I really wanted was direct experience.  Like you, I don’t like the sound of it, but that’s based purely on feelings and what we usually hear about temperatures in the hold of the plane.

Nope.  I would NEVER do it. We flew from Schiphol to Alicante with my little Daisy ,our Romanian rescue. She is a VERY calm dog.    She is normally Relaxed all the time.  She travelled in my cabin size bag. Once engine started She trembled the whole way.  I put my hand down Into the bag secretly to comfort her but no. Still trembled.   We got through it. And the time went by  quickly.  But On the way back I think she was a bit worse.  It got that I was thinking just get me off here she could have a heart attack.  I’m going to ask the vet.  I HATE the long drive but I put her well-being first.  You say yours doesn’t like the car but if he or she isn’t terrified it’s easier.    I also watched a documentary about animals in the hold.  A co pilot said to the captain.” Do you remember the time we had a shipment of tropical fish in the hold?  We forgot to put the heating on and when they arrived they were a frozen block ha ha ha.   !!!       So she will never be in that horrible place and the owners who put their pets in there have No Idea what they suffer.  I would not have known how Daisy was , out of sight it’s easy to assume they are fine. Just saying.

Thanks for all your comments. What I should have made clear was that I really wanted to know whether anyone had direct experience of Iberiaexpress. I will be consulting my vet in the U.K. for her views on the advisability of taking my dog on the plane generally.

I am sure there are two facebook pages that may be able to assist with your question. One is called Dogs Ungagged & the other is Travelling with dogs. I have previously seen posts regarding airlines & travelling to other countries, so worth putting the question up! We have friends who regularly send pups and their own dogs to shows in America but all the airlines that do it are used to it & do it almost on a daily basis so very experienced. We have seen this ourselves when we visited our friends & there were many dogs at the airport. That does not happen in the UK, years ago when I looked into it, it was better to get a company that dealt with it all, ours was called Par Air, not sure if they are still about. Good luck.

Manchester -Madrid (probably!). Will rent car there and drive down  as easier than waiting for connection to Malaga

I think you can fly out of U.K. with dogs in cabin Or hold if the airline do it but only in the hold on return to U.K.

I’m sure if your little dog doesn’t like a car or ferry he she won’t enjoy the noise of a plane.   Good luck anyway.
