For myself. I am just curious as to why after 11 years in this beautiful country would you want to return to the UK. They don't give a hoot about COVID 19 just flaunt the rules to suit themselves as the figures show. Everything is so expensive.Law and order is a laugh and joke.

i have asked Almelia620 this and after 11 years, it is simple  there are many UK ex pats running back to the UK as they have ripped the backside out of both the UK and Spain not getting Spanish residencia and not paying tax and neither to the UK , utter liberty takers and spongers so good riddance and bye bye to all of them

Just a minute both Janboon and Maxchef before you both jump to conclusions and Maxchefs disgusting remarks!!! I have paid and continue to pay tax in the UK as I work for the NHS!! I have a flexible contract.  I’m currently applying for residencia, but the main reason I’m going back to the UK is because my husband died!!!!!

I already said for personal reasons to Maxcef, but obviously that wasn’t suffice!! So is that a good enough reason you judgemental, ignorant, imbeciles!!!!

First of all Amelie my condolences on the loss of your husband. Secondly I was not being judgemental  I was only asking why people want to leave Spain. Thirdly that is my opinion regarding the UK and thankfully at the moment that is something that is still ours.

God knows why people have to be vitriolic . Just keep it . Civil no need for the us and . All those so called ex pats that are scuttling back to uk have lived spent their money in shops , bars ,garages etc every day they are in Spain . Everyone’s situation is different and some like long stay , some back and forward and some permanent. As regards uk law and order it’s no better in Spain ,openly selling drugs and break ins on regular basis . And I’m sure the odd rip off on motoring offences ( cash please ) . Keep it fun and informative . Costs nowt to be nice . Take care be safe everyone.    Half way thru my quarantine 👍

i was referring  to  the un genuine people who have not and will not get resicencia  and pay their way or taxes ( i know too many of them) although stay here full time and reap any benefits  they can including going back to the UK and using the UK NHS when they live in Spain full time and also claim for invalidity etc etc it annoys me a lot we do everything above board and i feel from 01.01. 2021 the Spanish will en force  this more so and quite right

i agree we should all enjoy the fruits in SPain but also follow any rules as we should doe

those are the people that i will be glad to see the back of

as regards to the Spanish way of policing , thatts theri way i have always respected the law where ever i have lived and dont have any problems with that , as for break ins etc well it is a lot better to live in Spain in my opinion at least if they are caught here there is a deterant unlike in the UK

i answered this thread to try to explain to a person that Spain is a great place to live and that their dream to move here should not be affected , but unfortunatley people seem to ill advise such people and almost scare monger them

what a shame

I realise and understand your points entirely . I lived in mojacar for 2 years and did my due diligence. Nie ,padron etc . Then with Ill health , the crash etc and missing my daughters and grandchildren decided to just go back to rolling 6 month rentals and go backwards and forwards as funds and circumstances allowed. A personal thing was I found July and August just got too hot and too busy . Mojacar I love and possibly have more actual friends their than uk . Not just mojacar but have travelled all over Spain .cadiz , Jerez even god help me Benidorm and enjoyed my trips . Enjoy your life in Spain and I will return 😂

me and my wife came here 4 years ago to live lock stock and barrel, we were both 55 at the time we took out private health care when we arrived, then my wife had health issues and we had to use the private health care, we took the standard cover and it was about 75 euros a month each , BUT we wer...

...e not covered for this and not covered for that and it was basically a waste of time and money

we looked into the self employed scheme ( Atonamo) and the payments start in the first year at 80 euros then 125 euros in the next 6 months then 205 until the end of year 2 then in year 3 it peaks at 306 euros plus a monthly payment to your accountant of approx 37 euros

the monthly total is now 343 euros per month, BUT this allows you and your partner to work leagally in Spain , your accountant will do your Spanish tax return once a year whether you work or not, but you can work anywhere , even for a company and it is legal, yes it sounds a lot of money but what do you get in return

you and your partner get the full Spanish NHS card for any treatment you may require,  and to bear in mind the Spanish NHS is a country mile than the UK one , all you need is an interprater you only pay approx 10 percent of

your prescriptions if you have any

when we got ours we started to work part time and this pays for the payments above so if done right it can work

The health care out is better partly because you pay for it and of course in that part of Spain thay don't have the population to look after.

Again very true . I retired at 60 and lived in mojacar only on rolling long term rentals and when my illness first appeared friends took me to medical centre who promptly sent me to huercal. Excellent care and treatment but not having much grasp of Spanish and didn’t want to keep bothering people easiest option head Back to uk and my loving daughters . I’m 70 plus now and a widower . Regular check ups now with the brilliant Macmillan follow and all ok . My only real point is sometimes on this or any other forum sometimes it turns into an us or them and can get a bit personal . Not saying yours was ,mostly people are kind and helpful . Hope you continue to enjoy your life out their it is a lovely spot and this COVID can be resolved and I can visit more often without this quarantine, masks ,distancing . It’s awful not talking to a soul for days at a time . Back to the good old days with a hug and a dance
