And it also goes the other way Jen jen. Some people can be far too blunt and insensitive possibly without realising it.

I’m not certain why you think either Jen Jen or I were being negative .... Jen Jen was maybe flippant, but was not negative. In her own way she actually gave good advice, in that if having a temperate climate year round is important to you, then a consideration is the Canaries. Obviously not an easy or first choice, but really without knowing what’s important to you, it’s difficult to give good advice.
My advice was certainly not indifferent; I was not aware that you were familiar with the geography of Spain - not everyone who arrives here is. This was reinforced by your wish for a temperate winter, but then saying you were looking at Arboleas or Albox. I think you can see why I may have assumed you weren’t familiar.
However, as you are, I can then say that the coastal areas of Southern Spain usually have much milder winters than inland, so Vera Playa, Garrucha, Mojácar, Carbonaras, Almería, Roquetas de Mar etc. as you’ll be aware, we still have a winter but it is mercifully short, generally. It’s difficult to say that any particular place will be to your liking, as whilst the weather follows a pattern, that pattern can occasionally be disrupted and have extremes. A good example was the recent Gota Fría which saw torrential rain in many areas and flooding.
If you are wanting a temperate and more English speaking area, then the recommendation would be for Mojácar Playa (anybody here in the Pueblo can advise what winters are like up there please?) and also possibly Roquetas Del Mar (Chrisso50 ... any input from you here?)
If you are wanting to integrate more with the local population, then Garrucha and I think Carbonaras, which are predominantly more Spanish - although Carbonaras is a very touristy area, so may be influx of English speakers in the Summer months.
If you like city living, Almería is of course coastal as you’d know and likely to be temperate in Winter, but I’ve not wintered there and cannot say.
Heading the other way another coastal city with a very large expat community is Alicante - HOWEVER .... it gets cold up there in Winter, being South East coast. January / February are the coldest months, and here in Vera we seem to get a constant wind every afternoon from about March / April through to end of June.
The Summers should be considered as well; again, whilst INCREDIBLY hot down on the coast, you do get a sea breeze to cool you off. Inland, generally, is much hotter.
If I could perhaps entreat you to share a little more of what sort of area you are seeking in terms of demographic, and what is and isn’t important to you in terms of weather, it may perhaps be easier to offer genuine helpful advice that may be of benefit to you.
Un saludo, Darío
Dario well said, maybe a little flipant but no harm meant!! At the end of the day who cares where...its whos with you.

Anywhere inland by 20 to 30 mins is windy, can also freeze in the winter , end November until End February, flies, mouve to farming, hard to keep warm as the insulation is the worst in Europe ,but very cheap to buy.
Gran Canaria, surrounded by water, subject to more rain than Andalucia, (here it's the largest desert in Europe, ) more of an average temperature when we used to go there it was more of an eternal Spring, so more rain, or clouds, sunbathing with a towel at the ready when clouds come.
Australia, well,mSydney is great to visit, Christamas day on Bondi Beach, was only 24 c and I found out why not many swimmers in the sea without a wet suit,it was freezing, also stingers which can be dangerous, and just up the road , no swimming allowed, Sea Crocodiles, swimming in the small nets was available but stingers can get washed over the nets , so they then close them, so no swimming.
Perth area great, but, keep your eyes open sharks catch swimmers there every year.
New Zealand , just like Norfolk in the UK, more sheep that population, nothing to shout about.
The best we find is a small Iseland off Fiji, about 60 people, no cars, no bikes, just beutifull, Manolo Iseland go there, but don't invade it with a satellite dish lol

We live in Turre and its close enough to the coast and the town is sheltered with mountains behind, highly recommend Turre and we have done our research!!
Hi Sharon,
If I were you I should think of the Los Gallardos area. There are properties of all types to be bought and it's close to Mojacar and Turre handy fir the motorway when you want to go to Almeria or Lorca. If you want milder weather in the winter not only do you need to be close to the coast but you should pick anywhere high up in the mountains even if quite close to the beach so do rule out Bedar and El Pinar. Roquetas is mild too but very windy at times. Where I am, south of Sorbas is quite mild at the moment but some winters have been colder as I'm 350 metres above sea level here although it's still a lot milder than Arboleas ,Albox or Huercal Overa. I really do think you wouldn't go wrong with Los Gallardos.and the prices of properties there is quite reasonable.
