As of today the UK government has asked for another extension and they think they will get it.

Many thanks for that…. This is good news as I may be able to stay in Spain on my Resendency.  Also on Social Media today the British Embassy in Madrid had a video on this topic. So I mite not have to take test at 73yrs.      Thanks.  Terry

If you didn't apply for a licence before the end of Dec 2021

You will be having a test on the road with a Spanish instructor

Thery will be in English

But all that hasn't had their licence by now will be taking a test. I've just had my money back had to get my solicitor to get it back as he knew I would have a test.

Spain isn't the same any more after brexit. Just returned to uk. This week

And just had a nice deep hot bath for the first time in 3 years. Glad to be back everything is gone up and going up more.

You are giving bad info there.  The theory test *can* be done in English.

The practical test on the road *will* be in Spanish, unless you are fortunate enough to get an examiner that speaks some English (and is prepared to speak English)

Talks regarding licence exchange are “ongoing” but there is no agreement yet.  Once (if?) agreement *is* reached, expect Spain to take a further 5 or 6 months at least to enact and implement it.

By the way … cost of living in Spain is STILL a sh*toad cheaper than UK.  And if you wanted a bath that badly … did you ever think of putting the plug in and filling it?

Yes you are right theory is in English

And a driving test will be required as now I have been told by a solicitor if you didn't apply for your licence before the end of Dec 2020. That's is why he got my money back as I paid for two licences. At that time the person took our money knowing it was after December 2020 so he shouldn't of took the money as the spanish know a test will be required. So my solicitor got our money back

. Cost of living is getting higher in Spain due to brexit kicking in now when I first bought Chorine for pool it was 18 euros now its 33 euros and was told its going up to 38euros this year. Yes you might be lucky to have a examiner that speaks some English who knows. My solicitor does but I have trouble understanding him.

As for a bath our tank only filled our bath up 3" max that's no bath

With a combi I can fill it right up and have a soak. Don't get me wrong I love Albox and Almanzora where we have another house to use when we can.

So we have the best of both.

Agree with Dario re Spanish driving tests.

Unless you were a resident and applied to have your license changed before 31/12/2020 not 2021.

The new dates to change your licence are for people who registered to change their licence before the cut off date. All other people will need to sit the tests.

Makes me laugh ( not really) all the I’m alright Jack Brits, who say “ have you not put in for your test “ having swapped their licences and regularly drink and drive and flaunt the 90/180 rules by going back to uk. Spoke with someone yesterday who said they had been back to the uk for nhs treatment but also had received specialist treatment in spain . We had to break our necks to try get private healthcare, to enable us to come over on a NLV , at great cost I might add .

Some who have never declared themselves tax fiscal in spain and don’t pay non residents tax . They’re all quick to jump on the band wagon about taking a driving test . Makes me sick !

That is not so, I have to agree with Dario.  I had to sit both theory and practical tests as we could not get registered in time due to Covid despite the fact we applied for residency in March 2020, Covid struck and our appointment was cancelled and we were unable to get another apointment before Fefruary 2022.  As we were 'non resident' at end of 2021 we were not able to exchange our driving licenec, hence the taking of the tests.  My driving instaructor spoke very good English, as did the examiner on the day, so all was conductyed in English.  .
