Advice on route from uk to spain via france
Hi we are driving to Spain through France beginning of December to our villa. Can anyone recommend the best route and also any recommendations of staying in dog friendly hotels in France and Spain? Thanks

Will depend on the countries lockdown situation at that time, at the moment you would not be allowed to drive through France to come to your holiday home as France is currently in lockdown and travel through regions is not permitted.
But who knows what December will hold
Hi we are moving permanently to Spain it’s not a holiday home. I understand that if you are driving to your permanent residence it is allowed. Just trying to sort out the route.

You would need to stick to primary routes so motorways, through France and Spain. Dog-friendly hotels - we used IBIS budget, cheap and friendly albeit basic.
We have done the return journey a few times. From Manchester we stayed at Folkestone (or Calais) then Clermont-Ferrand, then Tarragona. We have also stopped at Bourges and Perpignan at other times.
No more than six hours driving per day, stops every two hours, change of drivers. Avoid stopping at aires in France with no other vehicles around: risk of robbery or worse.
If you are becoming permanent residents you will need TIE/residence documents to show Police in Spain if stopped, alternatively evidence that you have applied for this online.
Good luck
