Cheaper to put  the dog in kennels for a month and fly into Alicante/Murcia or stay with Malaga and car hire. You don’t need the complication of a dog and house hunting.

I think we may have to rethink this, and consider leaving him with our doggie day care lady, I just don't like the thought of not being with him for a month, thanks you for all your comments x

Hiya all, it's me again, sorry for pestering again. We have booked a villa for 1 month in October with our dog, so we can look around the area to see where we would like ro move to, the problem we have now is that we can only get a flight to Malaga from Manchester, and obviously we want as little...

... stress as possible for him. I don't know if I mentioned before that we both drive but none of us are confident picking up  a car and driving so far from the airport to Albox, as we have never driven overseas before,we intend to get a car when we get to Albox to look around the area. Does anyone on the forum know a taxi company that would pick us up from Malaga airport and return with a dog. And if anyone has an idea on the cost of this please, I know some of you are thinking why will they not drive themselves but it is a long distance and we are not confident driving so far for the first time. Thank you for any help you can give.

Having worked in aviation for 30+ years I would NOT recommend sending your dog but air. There are so many things that go wrong, believe me I know only too well, and your poor dog will be pretty stressed out.

I agree Lorna. There is a high possibility that home owners would not like you to view their property with a dog, so the only option would be to leave it in a villa where his surroundings are new. So much can go wrong with that scenario. The stress to the dog is unnecessary. You are thinking about how you would feel without it for a month, please consider the dog first.

We always consider our dog first, We are not house hunting until next year, we wouldn't dream of taking him to someones home, we are looking at different towns/villages  we may like to live, so we wouldn't be leaving him in a villa on his own. Thank you Lorna for your advice, I think we will have to leave him with our day care lady who board's as well, as we have nobody that could take care of him.

Thanks all for your advice x

best decision ever leave it with someone who knows the dog, we know other dog owners who flew their loved pets to Malaga and said it was a nightmare for the dog and them.  they had to sedate the dog for the journey and wait for ages to get it back at the airport.

Thinking about it carefully, we think its the right decision, at least we know that he will be taken care of. Thank you x

Very wise move, opens up cheaper shorter trip if fly to Murcia, Almeria or Alicante (bit further out). Alicante has buses which will take you to Murcia then change for Huercal Overa.
