Hiya all, it's me again, sorry for pestering again. We have booked a villa for 1 month in October with our dog, so we can look around the area to see where we would like ro move to, the problem we have now is that we can only get a flight to Malaga from Manchester, and obviously we want as little stress as possible for him. I don't know if I mentioned before that we both drive but none of us are confident picking up  a car and driving so far from the airport to Albox, as we have never driven overseas before,we intend to get a car when we get to Albox to look around the area. Does anyone on the forum know a taxi company that would pick us up from Malaga airport and return with a dog. And if anyone has an idea on the cost of this please, I know some of you are thinking why will they not drive themselves but it is a long distance and we are not confident driving so far for the first time. Thank you for any help you can give.

Sue x

Taxi will cost an absolute fortune, saw a price on FB in the last week advertising the service and was over 400 euros from memory.  Car hire at airport much cheaper too.  It's a long but very easy drive from Malaga Airport as not very busy road out of airport (quiet in fact) then on to a dual carriageway then autovia so easiest roads to practice on compared to local small roads.  Another option if dog is small (under 10kg) with pet carrier is Alsa bus. Would be three changes I believe, very cheap and pick up at airpot, on to Granada change bus on to Baza possibly then change for Albox but not many or good times for last leg so could get a taxi from Baza to Albox, still expensive around the 100 perhaps.

Alsa.com for the buses, Malaga airport to baza search probably work but search may fail if put in Malaga to Albox so may have to search Baza to Albox separately.

We are having trouble hiring a rental car that we can take a dog in, we have been told that it will be easier to use a local company rather than a national company x

Possibly not helpful, but is Manchester - Malaga really the only possible flight option? Manchester has several flights daily to Alicante, and fewer but still some, to Corvera (Murcia).  Taxis from either to Albox would be in the 100euro range, maybe a little less.  Alsa bus Alicante to Huercal-Overa would be 15 euro each (or less), taxi from Huercal-Overa to Albox maybe 40euro...  Bus service would be direct, about 2- 3 hours, is comfy, easy to access, English at stations is available, etc.  There is a city bus from Alicante airport direct to Alicante bus station, etc.  Though it may seem daunting it's actually pretty easy and is cheap

if you are coming for 1 month the only option really for you is to find someone who will doggy sit for your dog in the UK while you are here doing your recky.  bringing your dog is complicating things not to mention making it more expensive and you can't take it everywhere with you when you are here as well.  hope you have done all the background work anyway before you come looking for somewhere to live.

aargh (not arf), brexit - the other end of the hydra (a mythical creature with many heads/mouths would have equally many depository ends, no?) but this one is particularly pernicious

Cheaper to put  the dog in kennels for a month and fly into Alicante/Murcia or stay with Malaga and car hire. You don’t need the complication of a dog and house hunting.
