Hi,

My husband and my family are thinking of purchasing a holiday home in Illar. But after reading some of the recent comments, I am a little dubious, regarding the duplex apartment. I have seen this on A Place in the Sun’s website.

We have only seen this today, so only considering it. Also do you know when the pool will be opened please?

Many thanks

Mel and Geoff

Hi ,Do not worry ,Illar is a great village and surrounding villages are

seriously worth considering ! Good Luck

Hi Mel38

Looking at other comments, I dont think the pool is going to be completed, however there is a local community pool not far away, the duplex looks a good price, we are out there on Wednesday looking in illar, it seems like a nice place and definitely worth a look, I'll post how we get on. 😊

Hi Mel

We were told when buying the pool would be completed when all apartments were sold ..but unfortunately we now know that the Spanish residents don’t want to pay for pool to be completed ...hopefully the residents that want it might be able to sort themselves...management company that is set up is now concentrating  on public areas...cleaning/painting of stairway...etc ...we were at last meeting and the Spanish residents didn’t want to pay €€ a small bit extra to pay for cleaner to come in and keep place tidy ..there is a community pool 5 mins walk from apartments but is only open for summer months...a lot of Spanish residents live there  permanently and don’t feel the need for paying for upkeep of pool ..the village is very friendly and also the surrounding villages are similar...there is a dia supermarket in next village and is well stocked ...

Hope this is of some help to you

Regards

Hello All,

I am looking at a villa in Illar and wanted to ask the forum a few questions if that's ok!

How many months is the community pool open?

Does anybody else rent their houses/apartments out for holiday lets?

Are there any activities for children (parks etc.) nearby?

Thanks

Leila

Hi Leila

We were due to "move in" in April, but because of covid19 had to cancel so I'll tell you as far as I know

the pool is not finished, so has no opening times.I'm sure you can rent out your property and there is a pool, bar, and tennis court in the village, also a shop and pharmacy.

Hope that helps, (I'm sure other members of the forum will Correct me if it's wrong)

Nigel

Hi Nigel,

Thanks and congrats on your new purchase. That's useful to know. Are you looking to move out full time or just for holidays? And will you be renting it out for holiday lets at all out of interest?

Thanks

Leila

Hello Leila

We are in process of buying a villa in Illar, just waiting for some restrictions to be lifted, for the purchase to complete. It's a lovely little village, we like it because of its proximity to everything we love, 5 mins up the road for great twisty motorcycle roads, 5 minutes to off road mountain bike or hiking trails, about 30 mins to Almeria, for beaches, large shopping centre etc, and if you dont want to go far from the village there are all the little shops and local market, for necessities. When we looked previously there are a few properties which are rented out on booking.com and also air b &b to give you an idea on potential income, if you were to rent out your property.  We cant wait to move out permanently (fingers crossed for end of year). Gill

Hi Leila

We actually bought our apartment last year just when we arranged everything to move in Covid19 comes along

so everything put on hold, when we do move in it will be for holidays to start with, and eventually retire here, but no plans to let our property.

See also the reply from Gill, it gives a far better insight to life in and around Illar

Nigel
