I have recently purchased a village property near Albox. The house was built in 1986. The house has had the water and electric meters removed prior to purchase. Does anyone have experience with what is required and the rough costs involved to get them reinstated.

It probably seems ridiculous to some people that at the age of 70 wanting to move to a country that we know so little about, but it is something I have dreamt about most of my life, and now that I don't have any commitments we think it is about time, if we don't do it now we will regret it. so if anyone has any suggestions for us they will be greatly appreciated, also I hadn't heard of Los Higuerales until today.

Are dogs allowed on the beaches - 2 replies

Graham54 Posted by Graham54 in Animals and pets in San Juan De Los Terreros on Tue Jul 17, 2018 7:45pm

Does anyone know the official line on whether dogs are allowed on any beaches, whether it be in summer or winter. We are spending the winter in Mojacar and would like to know what the position is with the local police.   ie. Do they prosecute dog owners taking their dogs onto the beach for exercise ?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

This is the official line, as received today, which may be of interest to all dog owners.

Am I allowed to walk my dog on the beach?

The Junta de Andalucía has banned animals from all the province’s beaches during the entire swimming season.

The purpose of this ban is to prevent and control the problems and dangers that animals can cause to both people and facilities. Therefore, it is prohibited to take any type of animal onto the beach between 31 March and 31 October each year.

However, guide dogs are permitted to go to and from the seafront or from the parking areas, to the seasonal facilities (including the beach), as long as they are accompanied by the officially recognized user. These animals must be accredited and identified as guide dogs for people with disabilities.

This specific presence of animals on the beaches and on the walkways is subject to compliance with the safety and sanitary conditions and rules of citizen coexistence relating to animal ownership established in the beach ordinances.

The guide dog owner or user is held responsible for the animal’s actions, damages to people, articles and the environment in general, as well as any stipulated fines.

During the period from 1 November to 30 March, when animals are allowed on the beaches, their handlers must take care to prevent them from defecating on the beach. At all times, the person in charge of the animal is obliged to collect and remove the excrement and to clean any part of the public walkway that has been affected.

The level of fines applied for contravening the regulation depends on the relevant Municipal Ordinance on animal ownership and any other applicable regulations.

Cath8 Posted by Cath8 in Recommended Tradesmen and Companies in Arboleas on Tue Jul 17, 2018 6:13pm

I'm buying a property near Arboleas and am trying to find someone who can survey a currently empty swimming pool to check that it is in good working order etc.  When I visited Arboleas a few months ago an English pool man helped me to find my accommodation, but I didn't get his name/card.  If anyone knows who this might be, or can recommend anyone to survey the pool I would be very grateful.  Cath
