Well I needed a concrete pylon as the underground feed was deemed to be inadequate. They picked up on one 20m away, then down to a new meter box as the old one wasn't to required standard when the place was built. 4,000 euro.

Obviously you want it to come a shorter distance, but the standards may have changed and they may require more up to date boxes, connections, cable runs etc etc....

...

You need to get a contractor out to quote for you. The contractor needs to be approved for making connections to the grid.

Thank you we have trying to get somebody to come  for a year on and off!! We have put a  solar system in now and it is working quite well but needed a backup. Do you know anything about solar systems please?

I've got 9 panels fitted, would have liked more but don't have the roof space. Along with a 5kw battery. I'm not a permanent resident, so on months when I'm not here, I feed much, much more on average into the grid than I use, but they won't give you more back than you use. My bill runs around 5 ...

...euros a month on average due to standing charges etc. I'm running a/c, pool pump, water heater plus all the usual power hungry gadgets. When I'm here in the summer months, I feed more to the grid, but my bills remain the same. In the winter months, I run about even due to less sunshine. Never more than 5 euro a month or so though. Yes, it's a fair sum to put in to get the system installed, but I reckon on around 5 to 6 years I'll have saved what I spent and after that everything after that is gravy.

Cam I ask what electric provider you use as our provider says that Solar credit can not be used against potencia charges thus our bills are usually around €50 per month

I wouldn't say I'm an expert by any means, but I do know the principals about it as I have an engineering background and researched my options. What do you need to know?

I bought thru Almeria Homes and they sorted out the contractor to do the work for the electrical connection. It wasn't a quick or easy thing either. I chased it for months before they actually carried out the work.

I use Iberdrola. Best bill I've had was 90 cents, but last month was 4.90 euro. I've just checked my app and since the system went live. That's when got approval to feed back into the grid, the yield from the panels has been 8.79 MWh, of which 5.37MWh has been returned to the grid. The consumption from the grid has been 1.03MWh, almost all of which has been covered. If Spain had same setup as UK, I'd be quids in.

I am looking at installing photovoltaic solar panels with a virtual battery. My energy supplier, Octopus, has advised me that there are substantial grants available, but I have also heard it can be a bit of a bureaucratic nightmare to get these- no surprise there! Does anyone have recent experience of this and how long it can all take.

I wasn’t eligible as I’m not resident. Friends who are resident are still waiting after 15 months
