For those that haven’t done it yet, I can recommend a visit to the giant Geode at Pulpi, near San Juan de Los Tereos.  Entrance is 22€ and you’ll need to book a couple of months in advance to get the time slot you want.  They cater for a tour group of up to 12 people and run a tour every 30 minutes.  The tour takes about 90 minutes.

The mine where the Geode is situated is a Silver / Lead / Iron mine and you’ll get a full tour of the workings, taking in the pillars and chambers that were blasted and cut.  Then you’ll descend 55 metres down to the Geode itself and be able to put your head and upper body in and see the worlds largest single Geode (Mexico is a larger Geodic formation BUT is split across multiple caves)

for 3€ if required you can get the audio phone in English.

Fabulous experience, well worth a visit

Waiting to do this ASAP. Apparently not open at present, maybe because of Festive break?

Been twice now, really worth it. If you can go in a group of English people so you may get an English Tour , that would be better. There is a lot of info being given!  You can check online when there are spaces , no need to book months ahead if it is for two people, it also includes a visit to the Batteria in SJDLT!

Thanks. Joining a group of English people seems sensible, as there are only two of us. But is it possible to find out if a group with spaces is English?

Certainly is open - I went on Saturday.

We were with a group of 10 Spanish, but our guide hailed from Mexico and her Spanish was clear and understandable - plus as backup we had the English audio guide for words we missed.

The virtual tour at the castle is also fantastic to do.  Particularly if you have mobility issues and can't visit the Geode itself. It is also only a few euros.
