Hi does anyone know how to go about making a doctors appointment with my EHIC? Also is the local doctors in Vera Centro de Salud? Do they provide medical care for pregnancy? Thank you

As far as I am aware, EHIC is for urgent and necessary treatment only - not a standard Doctor’s appointment.  To make an appointment to see a Doctor without Spanish health cover you’ll have to go private; you’d not be able to make an appointment at Vera Centro de Salud as you’d need to be registered there first.

Closest private doctor(s) are at EV Medical opposite the bull ring in Vera

Thank you for your help! I think the ehic also covers you for routine check ups if you’re away while scheduled one but I’ll look into it in more detail I appreciate it!

Meg, read my lips:- EHIC is for emergencies only - you show up at your nearest Centro Medico and if the receptionist feels yours is not an emergency you'll go back out the front door faster than a terrier who has been kicked where it hurts.

Hi Meg

Look at the UK government website, it also gives further information on what's covered and how to access. Hope it helps

What EHIC and GHIC covers

An EHIC or GHIC covers state healthcare, not private treatment.

With an EHIC or GHIC you can get medically necessary treatment in Spain on the same basis as a Spanish citizen. This means that you’ll get healthcare services for free or at a reduced cost.

An EHIC or GHIC is not a replacement for travel insurance – it does not cover everything, such as mountain rescue or being flown back to the UK (medical repatriation). Make sure you have both before you travel to Spain.

You may need to pay in full for treatment if you do not have an EHIC, GHIC or provisional replacement certificate (PRC).

Virgen del Alcazar is Vera Playa - 8km from Vera Pueblo, so really depends on where OP is coming from.

Private sector - have a look at Virgen del Alcázar
