We have a holiday home in Vera and I am just trying to get information together incase it is ever needed:

If we need a doctor for any run of the mill problems, eg infection, temperature, feeling under the weather, where is the best place to go?

Also, if we ever need to go to an emergency room where is the best 24 hours emergency service?

Many thanks.

Good private medical place in Parque Commercial or you could go to the Vera medical centre with passports and EHIC card and try to get seen.  For real emergency go to the A & E department at the local hospital in Hercual Overa.  Phone 112 and get assistance in English for any medical emergency or to get an ambulance.

Hi Gilly's

Good advice from Alicia but nearer to your new holiday home a few more tips.

24 hour emergency treatment at the Vera salud in Vera town with your card.

Vera salud also now have a small centre recently opened in Puerto Rey on the block of Hotel Reina. Again Ehic/Ghic card required it is open Monday to Friday I think it's 8am to 2pm. If you don't speak Spanish you will need a translator for both these centres.

If you have holiday Insurance or a willing to pay for a  private consultation (usually about €40) There is EV medical just by Vera bullring. All the doctors speak English, and also the newish centre Virgen del Alcazar by the  commercial centre near the Consum.

Hope this helps.

Also use your nearest farmacia they are helpful, some speak some English and often they can give you something that saves a trip to the doctor.

Lots of stuff that only a doctor can prescribe are available via the farmacia and they will advise you should your problem be too serious for them to help.
