Graeme,

I think Angela, being a mature and reasoned adult would read my tongue-in-cheek remark, note the smiley face at the end, and make the quite reasonable assumption that I am engaging in some levity and would not take said remark to mean she should eschew years of good driving habits...,,

As for making light of unlawful activity ...... whilst I know this will come as a shock, failing to indicate will NOT put you on the FBI’s top ten most wanted list, or the Guardia Civil Trafico’s “must stop and harass on sight” list.  (Not that the Guardia Civil HAVE any such list, in case anybody thought I was being serious.)

Angela - don’t worry about driving here.  Transitioning to driving on the right hand side of the road will come easily, I promise. Drivers are more courteous, and just follow the rest of the cars around the roundabout.  You’ll be surprised at how quickly driving on the right hand side of the road feels “normal”.  Except around bigger cities (Murcia, Almería etc), traffic is not so heavy as to create anxiety in a driver new to left-hand drive.  Relax, enjoy the stunning scenery, fabulous weather and great roads and you’ll settle into it very quickly.

Un saludo, Darío

This is Spain, Graeme, it’s not “Old Bill”

It’s “Viejo Pedro”

I'm sorry, I was only teasing. I do not drink, and will be very careful when I'm over for Christmas. I drive a disability bus as part of my job role. So would not take driving abroad lightly

Thankyou everyone for taking the time to discuss things with me. It is truly appreciated

Have fun now everyone

Dario / Angela

I took your comments in the light-hearted way they were meant, and to be honest they really made me smile.

Have a good festive season.

We were supposed to be there by now but the date 1st sept was stopped due to family issues, and since then we've been waiting to be told when to book a ferry for and are still waiting. We've been fed a line I think, told the winter last year was in the mid-twenties on Christmas day, and that life ...

...is brilliant. however is it possible to find unfurnished villa pool away from the coast for less than £500 month long term, years? somewhere we can live for years to come...

thank you

carol

Hello Carol - Consider Almerimar instead of Valle de Este or Vera. If you rent in the Marina area, everything is in walking distance - there is a Mercadona, grocery shop, fishmonger, speciality coffee shop, 3 hairdressers. lots of bars and restaurants - meal of the day 10 euros on weekdays. Buses are cheap to Roquettas if you want the really big stores. There is a VERY active social life - quizzes twice a week, ladies coffee morning, Mens coffee morning, boules (petanque),card games, a Walking group - and all this in the WINTER rather than the summer. A lot of people return to England, Germany or the Nordic countries in summer but the Spanish then holiday in Almerimar and the beaches are busy.  I love Almerimar. Jane
